This August month had turned out to be quite a busy one. The super long Jubilee Weekend was really unprecedented, and the whole nation really partied out. I spent the 4-day long weekend meeting with colleagues, friends and family. It really made August seem so much shorter..
The looming elections also started to bring the country into feverish mode. I've got at least 3 WhatsApp groups that discuss politics on a daily basis, of which one of them started right when the electoral boundaries were released, and had continued day and night since. We even met on the night of the National Day to engage in a discussion on politics. And for another WhatsApp group, we actually met in Fengshan market to eat Orh Luak, so as to imitate an Instagram post from a certain politician. I've been following local politics since 2001, so to be honest, I'm excited about the GE. I follow mainstream media and social media daily for updates, and yah, that's probably what kept me busy this August too.
And not forgetting, I was also busy producing my latest Trip Video. "Awesome Sri Lanka Trip 2015 (Watch in HD!)" After a few frustrating software hangs that caused me to redo, I finally completed it, just in time before my next upcoming trip. Do watch it in HD, on a desktop computer, for the best quality. Comments are welcome.
Today was also Ullambana, and I've finally brought myself to observe the Five Precepts (受五戒) at my Buddhist Society. Following the Five Precepts would not involve any major changes in my life, but they would be the necessary steps to becoming a responsible and dedicated Buddhist.
My August would conclude with an upcoming trip to Indonesia again, where I'll be trekking Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen, both volcanoes. Thereafter, it would be my 2nd Bali Marathon, which I had been looking forward to since I'd completed it in a Personal Best timing last year. The run, which is taking place next Sunday, would be my milestone 10th Full Marathon, and I hope it would be memorable.
人生是黑白的.
