[天冷就回来]'s a really good local Chinese musical. Now in their 3rd run at Drama Centre Theatre, I knew I had to catch it this time around. I've heard rave reviews about this production from the media and having listened to daily trailers from UFM1003, I'd been looking forward to it for some time.
It also helped that QR was 梁文福's student in NTU, and he had secured for us private photo moments with this local music key figure on the night. We met 梁文福 during the intermission, when we had our first group photo with him and got his autograph on the Musical's soundtrack album.
Then, after the musical had ended, we met him again and had our 2nd group photo. It was nice to have a little group chat with him. I guess it must be quite rare to have fans of our age. I've been a follower of his Facebook page, and also his weekly columns in 早报现在. I was quite happy to meet him in person.
[天冷就回来] is a touching story about love and dreams. For a synopsis of the story, you can easily google it. But to catch the depth of the messages, you really have to enter the theatre. Can love and dreams coexist? You'll find the answer there.
All the songs in [天冷就回来] were composed and written by 梁文福, and you really have to respect his musical talent. Most of the songs were able to fit in nicely into the storyline. While 1 or 2 songs seemed to 'fit' because the scriptwriter 'tried very hard' to make it so, all the other songs were quite apt and fitting. I especially felt so towards the end, when the character 小静 belted out 2 powerful lines from [陪我看日出] “虽然一个人，我并不孤独，在心中你陪我看每一个日出”。These lines, when sung by the character, made it sound like the song was really written for her.
Most of the songs were also 新谣 classics. I've heard some of them before, and all of them seemed able to withstand the test of time, because the lyrics are still relevant and meaningful today. Regardless of whether you're a fan of 新谣, you're guaranteed to feel very delighted at the choice of songs in this musical.
This musical is highly recommended. It will be performed till 27th April 2014.
