Totally screwed up day. Things went wrong in every way.
As it turned out, i failed 2 assessments today, and the last one was postponed. And that person took just 10 minutes in the assessment to send me off, saying that im ill-prepared and ask me find someone else to assess me. I was so down and depressed bcos of that, and it really spoilt my day.
And it was quite infuriating.
On monday, i told him i wanna be assessed. He asked me to find him in the afternoon. Then in the afternoon, he asked me to find him again on tuesday.
On tuesday, he said afternoon again. then in the afternoon, he said he's tired and wanted to sleep. So be it, there'll be chance again on wednesday.
On wednesday, he said afternoon. Then suddenly the ship crew were granted half-day off, cos of midnight sailing later on. So he postponed to friday.
Today's friday. I reminded him last night, and he said he'll assess me in the morning. When i found him in the morning, he was already packing up to leave, cos the ship crew were granted a day off, after the sailing. So, to fulfill his so-called 'promise', he was KIND ENOUGH to entertain me for 10 minutes, and found faults with my answers, and told me im ill-prepared and asked me to find someone else for my assessment.
HE TOTALLY WASTED MY 5 DAYS.
IF he had assessed me on that monday, and even IF i failed, i could have gone for many RE-assessments over the next 4 days and passed it by today. Then i wouldnt be in such a poor state now.
The consequence of failing this assessment:
1. My approved 4-day leave next week would be cancelled.
2. I would have to go back tmr (a SATURDAY) for another understudy duty.
3. And so i'll miss out having fun with my friends.
4. The ship crew will treat me worse off.
I was really feeling down this morning. I felt cheated. And i was fearful about the 4 days of leave, cos if they aren't cleared by this year, they'd be taken away. And i foresee the other ship crew to treat me much worse over the next few days cos i couldnt clear my OJT phase by the scheduled date (which is today).
Some of you may tell me, im already halfway through NS.
But do trust me that in my opinion, even 1 day onboard the ship seems like a year. So the remaining 330-odd days seem like eternity.

On a side note, Genting had just won the bid for Sentosa's IR, just as what i had predicted. Undoubtedly, the proposed blueprint for the 2nd IR by Genting seemed most attractive, and by joining efforts with Universal Studios, the entire plan outshone the other 2 contestors.
Singapore is clever enough to place its decision on this Genting-Universal bid, as many Asian countries have been trying to woo Universal to set up theme parks in their countries. By securing it here, Singapore would have ensured one less potential competitor.
Likely to be part of the decision made, is the political move that comes along. Genting, being a renowned Malaysian firm, has its government as its backing. Moreover, their highlands resort in KL has been tried and tested to be very successful in raking in the numbers and earnings. The Genting-Universal joint effort was also obviously very 'targetted' at attracting leisure tourists, which is the main agenda that the singapore govt hopes to achieve at Sentosa.
'Harry's Island' or the futuristic-looking glassy theme park brought up by the other 2 contestors lacked the magnetic force for leisure tourists, with their stadiums and soccer-themed hotels, or some other arty-farty ideas. Or even featuring many famous chefs all over the world at some floating island eating place. Moreover, they have yet to prove their worth in Asian markets, unlike Genting, and so their proposed estimated tourists numbers doesnt look justified.
I congratulate Genting-Universal for their win.

Yesterday i was wishfully hoping that the recent Typhoon Durian will make the seas so bad that it would be unfit for sailing.
It proved to be a day-dream, as the scheduled sailing time at 1am (i hate midnight sailings man) went on as planned.
And i finally saw DOLPHINS!!! I was quite skeptical when desmond boasted that he saw dolphins during our previous sail to South China Sea. Finally, i saw it for myself. There was a group of 3 dolphins swimming not too far off, and they were so cute..... For now, i'll be looking forward to see sharks, since so many others have seen them, EVEN inside the harbour. And water snakes too. Those would be a change to the usual/daily sightings of jellyfish and the millions of tiny fishes..
Tmr may (or may not) be my last day as a lowly OJT. Hopefully the 3 major assessments tomorrow will be successful, if not my 4-day-leave next week will be at stake. And the same goes for my weekends.
I do hope to share my joy here tmr.
