I've got chided for wearing a pair of slippers to an army camp.
(I wanted to protect and keep my new shoes until its grand debut mah)
Yes, it's my annual obligation to pass the IPPT today!
My number tag didn't read as lucky as last year's (Click HERE for last year's).
Here's a summary:
Sit Up ----------41 times (5.0 points)
Broad Jump-----230cm (3.0 points)
Chin Up---------12 times (5.0 points)
Shuttle Run-----10.0 secs (5.0 points)
2.4km Run------10:30 (4.0 points)
The "CAP Score" in NUS terms: 4.4
I've got the EXACT same points for the same stations as last year,
and made some minor improvement over my 2.4km timing. I THINK it's the new shoes!
As if it was deja vu (Click
HERE for last year's), my SBJ was just 216cm for the first out of 2 attempts. I was already telling myself, if the second try couldn't achieve at least a 'C' grade, I would give up and come again next week. I was lucky once more!

I loved today's work deal. Rarely will clients/participants deserve an entry here. This shows how I enjoyed today's session, even after a long drive to faraway Sembawang Park.
Usually, participants are made up of expatriate kids or rich Singaporean kids. The former are usually return customers of about 7 - 9 years old, and are sometimes either snobbish (well, just some only!) or they're just very distracted by the weapons laid quietly on the ground (ok, kids will be kids!). The latter are usually a little spoilt, about 9 - 11 years old, and their English-speaking Singlish-speaking parents (or maids) just love to stick to them to protect them (Well, Kiasu-ism runs in Singaporeans' blood).
Today was different. I had lovely Sec 3 prefects from a school in the West! I don't need an obedient and quiet audience, but I would appreciate participants who give me attention during the briefing. These prefects were great--they listened attentively and had spontaneous reactions and interactions. They laughed at parts which I've repeated countless times and had grown immune to. In conclusion, they made me enjoy the briefing.
Being prefects, they had alot of initiative and were good team-players. The little accident during the 2nd mission spelt a premature end to it, which I felt a little sad for the participants, judging how much they enjoyed the 1st.
Before we left, one of the prefects even came to ask:
"Are you all leaving already?"
"Erm, yes..."
"Can I have a hi-5 with you?"
"Well of course!"
*Piak*, and that made my day.

I crashed a bit of Engincamp over the past week. This would be the 3rd Engincamp in as many years.
My university life started with this camp in 2008. I joined alone as a freshie, had great fun, and STILL think it is one of the best camps in NUS. The only thing was, the gender ratio in 2008 was "8 guys: 2 girls". But that didn't take away much enjoyment, in my opinion.
Then in 2009, I found myself in the camp committee for the same camp. It was a totally different experience, from a organising team's position. The sense of satisfaction, to have contributed to one of the best camps in NUS, was great. That year, we achieved a gender ratio of "6 guys: 4 girls". Till then, it was the best ratio ever, and the new programmes and arrangements we had seemed to resonate well with the freshies.
This year, I merely crashed a little, and had very little interaction with the freshies. The camp programme and games were quite similar to the one we formulated last year, which is good, as it kinda shows that our effort last year were still appreciated. Apart from the Finale Night, which was a little dull at times, this year's comm did well. The gender ratio had reached "5 guys: 5 girls". Now, even girls had to be put on the waiting list and were rejected due to constraints. Engincamp has therefore, reached a new milestone.
--------------------------
The incessant cheering at the end of Finale Night DID convert a part of me to Oweek. Now I can't decide if I'm more geared towards YOG or Oweek.
