Before all the KTM tracks were dismantled, a trip was taken to trek a part of it. Not a long distance, just about 5km between Buona Vista and Jln Anak Bukit, where a looming storm made us stop.
Let today's entry be a photo journey to document the once Malaysian-owned land, that once carried people to and fro 2 countries.

Our trek started here, at an opening somewhere near Biopolis at Buona Vista.
Grafitti art at a little tunnel, where cars passed by above us.
MRT tracks at Buona Vista. It's impossible to take a single photograph that can capture both MRT and KTM trains anymore.
Near Ghim Moh, the old RJC campus, which was a holding site for Dunman High when the campus underwent expansion.

A large canal.
This nature stream ran under the track and flows all the way to Clementi Road. Apparently, we lost the chance to take a picture of the brick bridge since colonial times, on which we were standing on. It has been touted by some to be a "Die Die Must Preserve".
All these stacked up wooden planks, were parts of the previous spur line to Jurong. That line, that passed through Clementi, had been dismantled since very long ago.

Remaining evidence of a previous spur line that linked to Jurong. It branched off, after passing by Bukit Timah Railway Station.
The railway track split near Bukit Timah Railway Station.
A light signal. So that's how the green and red lights changed. Operated by a mini light bulb inside.
A piece of tool, perhaps. It's dated 1962. I wonder if anyone would bring it back or donate it to a local museum as an artefact.
Bukit Timah Railway Station was very busy that day.
This was where the passing of the key token was located. Trains heading towards Tanjong Pagar direction from here, had to obtain the key token as proof of authority to enter that sector. This is to prevent head-on collisions because it was a one-way track from here.
Bukit Timah Railway Station, a preserved monument.
Signalling room at Bukit Timah Railway Station.
A fenced-up Bukit Timah Railway Station from 1st July 2011.
Overhead Railway bridge across Bukit Timah Road.
"1871", probably when the bridge was opened, across Bukit Timah Road.
I certainly hope that this historical railway bridge could be preserved.

This is another small girder bridge, across Hindhede Road. It dates back to 1868, unbelievably old.
It is here at Hindhede Road, where we ended our trek prematurely.
Note: If you're reading this in July 2011, you can still trek a 3km part of the tracks from Rifle Range Road to The Rail Mall, as this remaining part will only be closed to public from 1st August 2011. Refer to website http://www.thegreencorridor.org/
