I brought my family to Navy Open House 2007 today, not just because of the free $20 coupons to spend, but more of wanting them to know how's everything like here, and what my life had been revolving around for the past year. 
We visited ships like the Patrol Vessels (above)
We also went onboard the 'plastic ship', the Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MCMV) (above)

And then, our Missile GunBoats! (below)
How can i NOT let them come onboard Missile Gunboats (MGB)? Ok, though my own ship wasn't open for public for this open house, but everything is identical inside Dragon (above). And yeah, the difference between MGBs and other types of ships IS EVIDENT. The living conditions, in particular. I showed them my workplace onboard my ship--the wheelhouse. Very crammed and stuffy and hot, almost like hell compared to the Wheelhouse onboard other ships. 
So we took a photo there, but appararently only mum was camera-alert.
So, again lor. (Ya, that's almost the size of the entire wheelhouse already)'

Of course, we also went to the limelight of this open house--the newly acquired stealth Frigates (below).
Oh my, frigates do have an enormous wheelhouse.. (below)
And we went RSN's largest platform- the Landing Ship Tank (LST). (see below)
Their ship crew are so fortunate to have nice cabins..
How's the view from the LST? It's really high up there. See the RSN Duck Tour down there? The queue was too long for us to wait. And sadly, we didn't get lucky-drawed to go for the 50-min 'sea cruise'. Well, the 'sea cruise' would be a rare experience for the public, to be able to sail onboard warships. I am in NO LACK of such experience, but I thought it would be nice to sail with my family... 
Without the luck to sail onboard the warships together, we were STILL able to go for a fast craft ride out into the Singapore Straits, on the LST's fast crafts. Oops, did i reveal a Sian face?
Apart from ship visiting, mum also caught the performance ChenWeiLian, and we also utilised the $20 coupons well, on food.

By the way, Navy Open House will be on until Sunday, 27 May. It's been REALLY tough for my friends, whose ships are opened to the public. Lucky me.

Big Events coming one after another...
#1: Navy Open House (25th to 27th May)
I should be bringing my family over. Open houses take place just once every few years, and since this time round it coincides with my time in navy, i guess there's no better time for them to visit the restricted place. Furthermore, it should be the last time that our ship (MGBs) would be open to all, since MGBs will be gone very soon.

#2: Vesak Day
This year's Vesak is gonna be one different experience for me.. Wenjian n I are gonna volunteer at Bright Hill Temple on that day.. No matter what jobs we are gonna be assigned, it still makes this Vesak a more meaningful one!
And actually Im quite glad that there'll be decorations and lightings along Chinatown during Vesak, starting this year, which also coincides with the unofficial opening of the Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown. My family went to see the temple last night, and it really looked grand. It will be another major landmark in Chinatown..

#3: DHSNPCC 45th Anniversary
Dhsnp will be celebrating its 45th birthday on 2nd June, at the current holding site at Mount Sinai (previous RJC campus). Well, time flies, really. I remember 5 years ago, we just celebrated our 40th anniversary. I was in Sec 3 then.
And yes, i'm proud to say that I'm STILL using the 40th anniversary towel in camp, AND STILL wearing the 40th anniversary polo T-shirt.
