Wow, today's a nights out! Its actually some sort of a few hours off for us.. cos our mdm was saying that we were 'well behaved' yesterday, and so she granted us liberty from 630pm to 1100pm, when we have to be back in camp.
I feel so lucky to be living not far away from camp. 4.5 hours will not be worthwhile for ppl staying in jurong and places faraway from the east. And so the ill-fated few preferred to slack their time in their cabins, while others like me, cherish each and every second of freedom that was granted.
But im not required to scuffle my way back tonite at 11pm. Cos tmr i'll be going for the lta interview.. it starts at 1030am, but im expected to be back in camp by 1330hr. I had to plead for this timing lor, cos the
ngiao mdm wanted me back by 1200nn.
Oh, and i was pretty surprised when mpa called me to inform me for an interview next monday. Cos, the essay that i wrote last sat was kinda lousy. i dare say it was the worst one ive done since JC1. (I can boast of better pieces k). Perhaps my luck had been good. But still, i'll do my best for the interview.. But at the end of the day, i'll still benefit--from the few hours of leave from camp. Hee.
Before i end this entry, i'll just say, that these 4 days in navy had been, well, relaxing. I've done essentially nothing yet. But well, that is partly because i missed a swimming test and a 2.4km run when i booked out for natsteel interview yesterday. But even with the swim and run, its really nothing compared to almost all other vocations, if u decide to include drivers and clerks. And today's even better. i spent sooooo much time sitting and lying and waiting and slacking, to the extent that im soooo bored, that i was actually happy that some sgts gave us some things to do.
if this carries on, though unlikely, i would start to feel that im actually overpaid. Hohoho. But no la, i believe progressive trainings still apply here...
yup. thats about it. i'll be back home on saturday afternoon. Thats like just 23 hours after book-in. Freedom rocks.

cos its still a combat vocation after all, NOT a 9-5 job, and SO i'll be locked in for the 5.5-week.
And, being in the navy now, all of us MUST be VERY proficient in swimming.
How is that ensured? Well.. 2 sessions of swimming everyday, and 20 laps each i believe. And we'll have to pass the swimming test, conducted every week, and that includes treading water, making a float out of the HEAVY cover-all uniform, AND jumping off from a 3 or 5m height. Wow. My height phobia has to be overcome huh.
But i'll work towards passing the test. Cos...

IPPT GOLD+Pass Swim Test = Room for discussion on DAILY book out. Gosh this is mouth-watering man!
But all that only applies to the first 5 weeks la, which is someting like bmt..
then comes 2 weeks of course.
then comes 8 weeks of hell.
then comes 16 weeks of vocational training.
then comes another posting, where i'll be put onto ships.
So i wont be seeing GREEN anymore. ANd i'll be getting the navy no.3 uniform, which will look better than wearing leaves.
And oh, no standby beds for us too. And we can bring anyting we want, from mp3 players to handphone chargers. And there's no training after dinner. Which means i'll have to bring in books to ward off boredom.
And another difference is, everyone must be properly dressed inside the camp. (Note: even singlets are NOT allowed.) Yes, even in the toilets, in cabins (we dont call them bunks in navy), or even in corridors. WHY? Cos there are many females here as well!! Did i mention the person in charge of all 82 of us is a female?
So much for all that. Life wont be as good as it was in bmt, and i muz learn to live with people who are "from the other world out dere"... but i'll be out on wed and fri, to go for interview...
i haf to pack up now... byebye.

I received an sms. The sender was "Stranger".
