The resolutions for 2011
1. Weigh 60kg. If you really realise, I've been making this failed resolution for years.
2. Put in time to revise Japanese. I've been attending weekly lessons without revising nor preparing. Time to stop this.
3. Increase exposure to Cantonese. I think it's a useful language. Not wanting to be over-ambitious, I just hope that by the end of the year, I will know abit more than the nothingness at the moment.
4. Run 350km over the year, that's slightly less than 30km per month.
5. Read. I need to clear the books borrowed from friends. And more.
6. Enjoy my attachment from Jan~Jun. At the very least, I must learn as much as I can during the stint. Keep a log of the things learnt. At the same time, keep up with school work and do away with procrastination.
7. Be motivated doing FYP in the 2nd half of the year.
That's probably all I can think of at the moment!

THE Annual Review--A Summarised 2010
JANUARY
2010 was ushered in at Kianseng's place with PeiFen+ShuYi, doing stupid things in front of a TV set. CampComm went Batam for our 1st overseas trip, to learn and do Cable-Skiing. I tried to produce my 1st ever video for the Batam trip, and had fun trying out different possibilities at self-taught video production. This 14-minute video took 2.5 days -- something that will only take half a day by the end of the year, after countless productions. I bought myself my 1st smartphone, severely under-utilising it until today. YOG called me for a Japanese interpreter position interview, to which I couldn't match up and decided to brush up more over the year. Before the month ended, I watched 阿密特(张惠妹)perform to an awed audience at the indoor stadium, making me want to watch every of her future concerts here.
FEBRUARY
I caught 梁文音's campus performance at NTU, and lamented at the total lack of similar concerts in NUS. The Year of the Tiger came, and only for the 2nd time in my life, I didn't go to Malaysia for visiting over the CNY break. Many visits and reunion dinners with friends and relatives. During CNY too, I heard one of the most preposterous stories about the tarnished pastor, which cannot be shared here, told first-hand by a relative.
MARCH
A tiring and long month, slapped with many deadlines. A strong desire to go on a Summer trip developed, and plane tickets to Japan were booked shortly after. A great gathering with Japanese classmates from Pyaess took place, and some of us HTHT till the wee hours. That was when I was deeply inspired by Jane and her life plannings, and so was motivated to want to value-add myself. There was also 萧敬腾's concert at the indoor stadium, and he became the 1st solo male singer that I paid to watch. I joined the Twitter family this month, even though I (still) have no data plan subsriptions to my smartphone. I took part in the NUS Biathlon, in which I struggled a little at the swimming phase with cramps, but still finishing just seconds below my 1-hour target, at 59:45!
APRIL
I made a video for a module as part of a presentation, which went well and scored well. I was excited when the Singapore leg of The Amazing Race Season 16 aired sometime in the month. Another excitement came from the 2 major concerts held on the same day -- I attended the S.H.E one. The autograph session the next day was the last time I saw the trio and shook their hands, and they won't appear as a group in the near future. I was a little sad when I learnt that one of my favourite radio programmes, Sunday Eleven, would end it's run, after supporting it for at least 6 or 7 years. I sms-ed the DJ to extend air-time in the last 5 minutes of the show, and she gave me a positive reply live on air, which was a rather pleasant feeling. The month ended low, when my laptop's hard disk failed, and I had to survive 1 whole week without my laptop. I was relieved when I managed to retrieve the data.
MAY
Exams ended and I spent alot of time planning for the 12-day Japan trip, my biggest pre-trip project to date. I was honoured to export the humble itinerary to 10 people. During the trip, I enjoyed being the unofficial tour guide-- visiting 4 Japanese cities and filling up about 10 slots in my personal target list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. I took a hell lot of raw footages, exhausting all 16 gigabites of memory space, to compile into one of my proudest travel videos series. During the Vesak Celebrations, I unfortunately tore my favourite pair of jeans in my 3rd 3-step-1-bow processions. The month ended with a Campcomm's Ice-skating outing.
JUNE
I replaced my running shoes and really liked the service of the salesperson. Cooking was the highlight this month, when I practiced cooking up dishes at Yingjin's, and subsequently whipped up a satisfying dinner for Father's Day. This blog happily celebrated her 5th birthday. I crashed a small part of EnginCamp, including the Finale Night, in which I enjoyed and subsequently decided to withdraw from YOG to join Oweek instead. A work deal this month really made my day -- with prefects from a neighbourhood school. I cleared my IPPT before my birthday and earned a Silver, worth $200. The month ended with a chillax JB trip with fellow Navy Navigators, where we spent just $80 overnight, on a 5-star hotel, luxurious meals and booze. I caught up with the World Cup fever too -- watching live-streamed matches and made good winnings that accummulated up to 3 digits at one point.
JULY
I celebrated my 23rd birthday amidst various matured conversations with groups of friends at different settings. I left the country the 4th time this year for Bintan, with 10 other CampComm friends, where we had much fun, all well-documented in self-produced videos again. There were many movies/meals/meet-ups this month. The dry run for Orientation week was held and it was 10 times more fun than the actual run in August. 9 other friends joined me in a pseudo-"超级星光大道6.5" Karaoke competition, where we pitted each other in a competitive setting that I managed a 2nd place finish. I took IPPT for the new window period, just 38 days after the previous, and earned another $200 Silver, hitting a personal best timing for 2.4km run, at 10:00.
AUGUST
There was the Orientation Week in school, which ended with the best ever Rag Day that NUS would ever see. That night ended dramatically, when my squadmates and I were surprised to have our KL trip ruined with the Alisan saga. Still, after a police report, we headed to JB the next day for a day trip. I caught NDP with CampComm friends and started my "A photo a day" project from that day. It was set up for just the entire Year 3 Semester 1, primarily for me to countdown to the end of the dreadful semester easily. It was the month of YOG -- when I happily brought my family to watch the spectacular Opening Ceremony live, and subsequently skipped lectures to watch live Table Tennis matches at the indoor stadium. I was elated to get a photo shot and autographs from our up-and-coming local-born Table Tennis star, Isabelle Li. This blog also welcomed her 40,000th visitor.
SEPTEMBER
A quiet month, with Hebe's solo album filling me up. The Army Half Marathon this year was a very nice affair -- with no pain and non-stopping, to a personal best for a 21km distance, in 2:04:18. It was recess week, where preparations for tests were done, as well as activities like a picnic at Marina Barrage, mahjong and Karaoke.
OCTOBER
A snake encounter near home; OktoberFest celebrations with Campcomm; and various meet-ups with friends were some of the highlights this month. At home, I was glued to the TV for matches from the Commonwealth Games. But the bigger highlights came from "新加坡金曲奖", though I enjoyed the 2009 show more; and the Nike City Run, which gave me a personal best for a 10km distance, in 48:39; and also the visit to The Pinnacle@Duxton with ex-navy navigators.
NOVEMBER
I went for the interview for my attachment, but I think I could really fared better. I was accepted into the company, but for a similar but different position. The end of the semester also meant the happy end of the "My Year 3 Semester 1: A photo a day" project. I caught many events of the Asian Games on TV, amidst examination preparations.
DECEMBER
I attained my first 4-consecutive strikes in bowling. Over at Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, my 4th marathon ended with my worst-timing of 5:13:35. The family cleared unwanted stuff at home, taking it from the example set by myself. Windsurf training camp refreshed some of the skills. Our 2nd PPR stayover coincided with Christmas celebrations, with gift exchanges. I left the country for the 6th time during the KL make-up trip with squadmates, where we finally got a chance to take a train back to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. The year also ended with the completion of my last travel videos of the year. The countdown to 2011 was done at the airport, when the CampComm sent off the first of many people going for exchange.
Some worthy statistics
1. I completed 370.8km in running mileage over the year. Though it fell short of the target set in the 2010 New year resolutions, it was already the furthest yet, surpassing 2009's 370km.
2. After my 1st video production in Jan 2010, I continued with more little projects over the year, and had just completed my 36th. Most of them are compiled parts from the trips taken this year.
