It's a long day of travelling! We took a plane to hongkong, then to Taipei, then kansai. 4 countries in a day! The 10 hours of flight was followed by 3 train rides, which took another 2 hours.
Anyway the hostel is squeaky clean. All 8 of us share a dorm. The bathrooms are well equipped and of course, the toilet bowls come with the ass-washing function. It's kinda cold still, at 16-ish. The money I brought here seems to be just barely enough!
Till More updates again!

It's a belated surprise party for the birthday girl! Much kudos to Hak Liang for putting up such a great party, secretly liaising with the various groups of friends of YX. Surprise parties are never easy, as more often that not, someone would have accidentally blurted out clues or details unknowingly. YX's party was very successful in that sense.
It was a pretty light-hearted evening, playing various board games right after exams. It became not just a meaningful 21st party, but also a gathering opportunity. I'm sure everyone who attended had much fun, especially so for YX, who has had mentioned her desire to hold a party a few times.
We also derived some fun from a prank on a neighbouring table's Citadel game. Spot something wrong in this picture! Something, which was contributed from, er, Kianseng's mouth.
And here, the representatives from EnginCampComm 08/09.

I wasn't able to head down personally to sign the petition at the Speaker's Corner this evening.
But I'm definitely happy that the response wasn't too bad, according to 杨君伟.
(http://blog.omy.sg/dannyyeo/archives/3160). I especially loved the words on the poster.
I'm sure if the event had more publicity, or if the time allocated was lengthened, more signatures would be garnered.
I sincerely hope that this "last line of defence" will not be broken. All these years, we've seen how our Mother Tongue was sidelined and de-emphasized. If it is to be given a less importance at the PSLE level, I'm pretty sure the erosion will be unprecedented.
Keep it at status quo, I say. Going (effectively) bilingual isn't easy of course. I admit effective bilinguals are of a rare few. Most people like us are "neither-here-nor-there". But at least it has had given us advantages over, say, our counterparts in other countries. We can survive in a Western and Eastern environment. We are uniquely Singaporean.
If we cut the weightage for PSLE, we'll be taking a major step BACKWARDS in the bilingual policy. It wasn't a perfect policy, but we shan't make it worse off.
I'm lazy to post an argumentative essay here now. Let's just see what is being announced on the press conference on Tuesday.

My laptop is back with a new hard disk, and I managed to get back most of the data! Kinda relieved..
I'm busying myself with the planning of the itinerary, which seems to be taking much more time than I thought. But it's something I really prefer, rather than having one that is planned nicely for me. I get to decide on the routes taken, using whichever train lines, at whatever timings, to wherever place. It's something the other 7 won't get to enjoy!
I'm really hoping to keep the entire trip within a budget of 2k. So, if there're any wishlists from anyone, do convey them early!
