Got the luck to attend the NDP NE Show 2 this year, thanks to Seok Hwee. The National Day Parade, as usual, are with all the expected elements and formalities every year, so I'll just let the pictures below explain themselves. These are just a prelude to what's gonna come on 9th August.

One more classic musical done! I was very excited when I saw the print advertisements for The Sound of Music a few months ago, and immediately I texted the people who "indirectly" introduced me to this classic.
"Indirectly", because I only got to hear about this movie/musical during the epic Graduation Trip in Europe in 2012, when we were in Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg is huge on 2 things: the first being the birthplace of Mozart, and the second, being the filming place for the widely popular musical-turned-movie The Sound of Music (1965). Tours were aplenty to bring tourists back to the filming sites and beautiful mountains that appeared in the 1965 movie. Being very suaku people, we didn't know much about this classic, and hence unfortunately, missed out on these places. (We did, however, visited the Mirabell Gardens, where Maria and the children sang Do-Re-Mi)
But it really got me curious about the movie. I have yet to watch it today, but my aunt has been telling me time and again to do so. Her family is so in love with the 3-hour movie that they've bought the DVD and watched it at least 5 times! I will definitely find time to watch it.
I didn't previously know that so many classic songs came from The Sound of Music. It included "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", "Do-Re-Mi", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", "So Long, Farewell", "The Lonely Goatherd", and the title song, "The Sound of Music". Simply impressive, isn't it!
The story is lovely. Yes, lovely is the word. It's not a complicated plot, but yet anyone would love the characters; the way Maria changed the dynamics of the von Trapp family; and how the Captain stayed passionate about his anti-Nazi and anti-Anschluss stand. It's actually based on a true story!
I'd recommend you to watch it while it's still showing. The cast will only be performing here for a month, and the final performance is set to be 10th August 2014.
