I'm so glad I made the decision to watch this year's Singapore Hit Awards--Live.
This year, they lengthened each singer's performance time, and every singer sang at least 3 songs. And that's why, for the FIRST time, the awards ceremony lasted all the way till midnight!
This is easily the most worthwhile event I've attended, because a decent-enough seat cost me just $31, including the sistic surcharge. Guess what, the seat we got just now, is going to worth $141 (including surcharge) for the upcoming AMIT(张惠妹 阿密特) Live Concert!
Anyway, to say I enjoyed the event, was quite an understatement.. It totally lifted me off, and it was a very good closure to fun+entertainment, since I'm going to enter mugging mode soon.
To sum up,
-I clapped the loudest for 萧敬腾, cos in my opinion, it was the best performance the whole night. I guess it would have convinced people about his 最佳演绎男歌手 award.
-I was most engrossed in 蔡健雅 and 徐佳莹's performances. Those were soulful and the performances adequately showcased BOTH their composing AND singing prowess. 蔡健雅 sang 5 songs!
-I laughed the hardest at AuntyLucy's segment. If you don't know who/what is AuntyLucy, I won't blame you if you admit you'd been living in a well for the past 6 months. 周崇庆 definitely makes a great entertainer on stage/ on air, and he remains one of my favourite DJs. Even S.H.E caught on the "So embarrassing!" craze!
-I stood during S.H.E's segment, immediately after Ella's "大家开心吗？开心的话，就给我站起来~！" And almost 1/3 of the audience stood.. (more at the expensive areas of course). S.H.E's segment was 压轴, and their very High performance of 4 songs, ended the ceremony well at around midnight.
-I really liked Ella's words after S.H.E received the "全方位艺人" award, because she subtlely and indirectly guaranteed that the Asia's Top Female Group will not disband, although each of them can pursue their interests in hosting/acting, apart from being in the trio. Similarly, when receiving the "最佳组合" award, Ella said that "希望S.H.E 永远都能拿‘组合’奖！"

It was QJ's first visit to the indoor stadium. He must have enjoyed the performances much, to say that he's addicted to it and ''don't mind coming again next year". In fact, I feel the same way too!

I'm going to attend Singapore Hit Awards 新加坡金曲奖 tomorrow! The tickets were bought as late as today, the eve of the event.
I'll be seeing them tomorrow!

I'm giving SEP a miss.
As much as I want to experience the joys of studying away from home, coupled with the prospects of travelling in the host country (alone or not), I have to take into account some realities.
One of which, is of course, money. Going to a faraway non-Asian country would require 10-over grand. Though I have that amount stashed away, I would need that to foot the bills for the study loan. Spending a grand 5-digit sum of money, over a span of just 4 months, is mind-boggling to someone from a humble family background. I've brought it up once to Dad, and he advised me against it too, which I truly understand.
So, the next better alternative? An Asian location, like HongKong, which has a very similar structure as Singapore's. All my course modules are mappable too, and they're all instructed in English. But if I were to consider going in Semester 1, I wouldn't be able to map an essential Laboratory Module, and that may be a burden in my Honours Year. And if I were to consider going in Semester 2, I wouldn't be able to apply for Industrial Attachment, which I see it as having a higher practical value. So, that spells a 'No' too.
Thirdly, I must consider the realities of the competition I will face. "At the end of the day, it all boils down to CAP". So, even if I have the means, and have shortlisted an appealing university with mappable modules, I will still fail in the application, no? Furthermore, I guess I need to use all semesters available here in NUS to chase up my CAP...
So, stay in Singapore, I shall. SEP isn't the only way to gain overseas experiences.
Anyway, in a bid to add more meaning to my Summer vacation next year, I've applied to be volunteers in YOG and World Expo, but none have news yet. I really hope to accomplish something new in the next Summer!
