林宥嘉 [神遊] 新加坡場
I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms again. I had been looking forward to this concert since 2011, when he started the concert tour in other Asian countries. And when the date for the Singapore show was announced mid this year, I got even more excited.
Yoga didn't disappoint. His live singing is good, which is something to be expected from a seasoned contestant in a popular singing competition. I really like how he always get engrossed into the mood of the songs he sings, no matter they be fast numbers or slow ballads.
Initially I thought that he might not be able to engage the audience well, but I was quite wrong. He knows very well how to play upon the crowd's sentiments, and can be ridiculously funny at times. He made fun of the VIP officials who were there because of sponsorships, asking them not to be so bored. His many engaging antics (onstage and even at the audience area) was something that surprised me right from the start of the show, because he immediately broke the ice and made the crowd laugh.
"林宥嘉" has long been a name that is synonymous with quality music. All 4 of his albums received rave reviews from both critics and fans, and many of these works had been nominated (and recognised) at major music awards across the Mandopop world. And by 'quality', you don't expect all the songs to be commercialised or mainstream, because he is a very versatile singer, and I do fancy alot of his not-so-mainstream music. The point that I'm trying to bring out here, is that even the concert tour is of a high quality.
He probably sang about 40 songs during the 3-hour show and I enjoyed it from end to end. There were 5 songs that I weren't too familiar, but I could sing along (with the lyrics onscreen) to all the others. That explained my partial loss of voice the moment the concert ended. After listening to the live versions of 傻子、浪費、背影、那首歌、想自由、伯樂、眼色、説謊、早開的晚霞、 殘酷月光、感同身受、你是我的眼，I must say I can die happy. I'm not exaggerating--I actually cheered when the music to those songs I craved sounded.
[神遊] is the perfect end to the series of concerts that I attended this year. The year started with a very high standard concert in [AMeiZing], followed by [諾亞方舟], then a recent [當我們一起走過]，and finally [神遊]. I didn't regret attending any of these, and all of them gave me cruel withdrawal symptoms. I hope the concert scene next year continues to be as lively as ever.
