i juz watched "Curse of the Golden Flower" [满城尽带黄金甲] and i think the show was good. Afterall, it garnered 4.5/5 stars by many movie critics. And if im not wrong, it's the most expensive chinese movie. But seems like some of my friends don't really like it though..

This poignant story was set during the Tang Dynasty and i really admire the grandness of the palace facade and interior. It was all so impressive and 'whoaa'-ful. And also the scenes of majestic batallions of soldiers. And how the international movie superstars Chow Yun Fatt and Gong Li outdo each other in the power struggle. And how it all ended tragically.

And the movie theme song, 菊花台 is nice too. I didnt quite understand the song when it first came out in Jay Chou's album in August. Now i can fully understand how the name of the song came about, and so i appreciate this song much better now. Actually, in Jay's newest album, 菊花台 is my top favourite song in the first place.

After the movie, as usual, i had a chat with wx. Frankly speaking, it's always satisfying to chat with him, cos more often than not, he'll speak my mind. And this isnt the first time though. Looks like sometimes we do ponder over similar stuff..
Talking about him, i just dun understand why is he ever so lucky to call into 933 EVERYTIME!! haha, and he just dialled in again. But at least he remembers to mention my name on air.. Thanks.

Anyway, tmr's Christmas Eve, and i'll be spending it onboard ship. Though i'll feel that i'll miss out on alot of the excitement that happens elsewhere, the sian-ness isn't too big, cos in the first place, Christmas isn't that a significant day for me. It is more of a chance to gather around with friends, and i'll be gathering with my jc class on the 25th, which doesn't fall on my duty day. Im thankful enough already.

i am a fast walker.
when im on the go, the one thing that i dislike most, is to have slower-paced people obstructing me. That is when im walking normally. [My normal speed is faster than other ppl's normal speed]
then when im in a hurry, i'll really be impatient. sometimes i may just sweep and swipe past the slow person, showing him my intolerance. sometimes i may just give a rude 'zik' and cut the person, with a possibility of slightly knocking him. i guess i portray an image of a typical fast-paced rude singaporean.
i bet countless people have cursed me for my impatience.
But really, unless im darn tired, i don't see why i should walk the speed like everyone else do, cos i render it a waste of time.
Because Time is Never on our side.

Yoyo, today i was volunteered to help out at MINDSville.. The team, comprising volunteers from a few ships, was tasked to do some cleaning and then carolling for the residents of the home. In the end, my assigned job was the one and only photographer, so i didnt do anything meaningful nor commendable.. But it is satisfying to see that we had brought joy to them, and that they had enjoyed our performances.
Joy comes also when you succeed in bringing joy to others.
After the event, i went to sing -again-. This time with 3 of my fellow ship crew, at some CC at serangoon. Though i was just anyhow singing, i wasn't the worst over there.. Ha!

What a long live rain. All thanks to it, my first-ever actual duty onboard the ship has been such an unforgettable one.
Throughout the stormy night, so many ropes have snapped.
[Fact #1: Ships are berthed with many ropes holding them. These berthing ropes prevent them from drifting to nowhere. When the sea is choppy (i.e. rough), the ship swings from side to side and front and back drastically, such that these ropes break. This is very dangerous, not just because the snapping force of the thick ropes can KILL or cause AMPUTATION, but also IF the ship gets totally drifted off without anyone onboard, its beyond imagination what follows.]
And so, as part of my duty, i had to splice the ropes, so as to mend the broken ropes. With the torrential rains non-stop, and with the ropes totally wet and heavy, it was a massive challenge to just complete one simple splice. And it gets really uncomfortable when you r totally drenched, and no one else can help you, cos you are the only person on duty at each time.
As if the trouble with the ropes aren't enough, 1 of the ship's gangway hanged in midair, while another collapsed.
[Fact #2: Gangway refers to the walkway linking the land to the ship. Gangways are very heavy. What happened last night was, one of the ship's gangway was hanging, almost falling completely into the waters. And it took 13 people, in a more than 1-hour-effort, using about 5 different methods, to save it, and pull it back up.]
Well, it really doesnt matter if most of you don't understand what i've been through.
Because what i'm trying to say is:
MY overnight duties are tougher than you ARMY people. Especially during the current monsoon season...
But hey, I wasn't complaining.
