I've just kickstarted an ambitious photo project, named "My Year 3 Semester 1".
The idea is to snap a photograph every day and upload onto an album on FB of the same name.
After the entire week has passed, I'll round up the week's photos and post here as well.
Here's Week 1.
------------------------------------------
Week 1, Monday, 9th August 2010.
"Campcomm'09 celebrated last day of Summer again. We watched NDP here and had so much fun that ST photographer took a photo of us that wasn't published."
Week 1, Tuesday, 10th August 2010.
"Can anyone imagine wearing labcoat on the First Day of school?
(No, the Goldie Cap isn't part of the outfit of course)"
Week 1, Wednesday, 11th August 2010.
"Free day. MacRitchie Run. 10km. 1hr10mins."
Week 1, Thursday, 12th August 2010.
"Strictly speaking, not really a 'photograph', but I could have snapped a shot of this using a camera, which is of no point, right? I hope the email isn't inactive."
Week 1, Friday, 13th August 2010.
"Campcomm's sports day. Tennis, my first ever."
Week 1, Saturday, 14th August 2010.
"I witnessed the lighting of the Olympic flame on the cauldron in front of my very eyes, along with 2 billion television audience around the world. The inaugural Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony was uniquely Singaporean and spectacular."
Week 1, Sunday, 15th August 2010.
"Visited the free exhibition at Suntec Convention Centre. Took pictures with the past Olympic Torches. Shown above, are the medals for the first Youth Olympic Games & the Singapore 2010 Olympic Torch."

The Inaugural Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony was spectacular. I promise to dedicate a separate entry to it soon, with photos.
Although I spotted minor hiccups and witnessed some 冷场, I think the people behind the opening ceremony did a good job at controlling and cue-ing the thousands of performers. One 'chapter' after another, each with hundreds of people in all kinds of costumes, the entire programme management right till the last detail must have been a mind-boggling task.
I liked the first few 'chapters', which told a little of Singapore's beginnings, from a tiny fishing village, to the early influx of immigrants from India and China; to the arrival of 'monsters' etc. It was very uniquely Singaporean, including the incorporation of childhood songs and games that people used to play before the age of Computers. And then there was the usual Olympics protocol--Parade of flags / Singing of Olympic theme song / The Olympic Anthem / IOC President's Speech / Oath-taking / Fireworks / Lighting of flame on the main cauldron. The latter was the climax, which saw the flame on a phoenix, accompanied by dragonboats. Phoenix + Dragon already spell out the most auspicious combination possible. Oh ya, there were laser components / fire performances and even firecrackers too!
I'll post the photos/videos up soon.
