Top 3 Reasons why I was looking forward to 《一泡而红》(Already Famous)
1. I felt the need to support locally-produced movies.2. I like Michelle Chong. She's easily the funniest actress who can impersonate excellently.3. It was filmed in my neighbourhood, and hence this (secret and illegal) shot above. For a first-time director, I think Michelle Chong did a decent job. Some dialogues were funny and she depicted Ah Kiao pretty well. Like most locally-produced films, there are also segments that attempt to touch the hearts of the audience. However, the central plot was actually very simple and I can summarise the film in a sentence. Probably that's why there was the introduction of characters like Patricia Mok, Chua Enlai, Irene Ang and Kumar etc, to add in some humour and variety. These parts could be better managed though. Michelle Chong's a smart director, by roping in Xiao Gui as the male lead, because he will make the show a more appealing one. By doing so, the movie has the potential to be exported to Taiwan. And by playing the role as Ah Kiao, a Malaysian girl, the movie will resonate with Malaysian audience too. This way, the movie would have a more "international" reach, and that's pretty laudable. This movie was supposed to be fully released yesterday, but is now scheduled to be released next week, to avoid clashing with mega movies like Twilight and Puss in Boots. But, judging from all the sold-out preview shows today and tomorrow, it seems that it does have got good appeal. The audience (as observed in the cinema) were pretty receptive to the movie too, by laughing at funny moments that were already shown in trailers. On all these counts, I think Michelle Chong has passed. I read that she might have a 2nd movie, and I think it's even more likely now.

Given my sparse updates the past few weeks, you might foolishly think that I'm almost giving up blogging and switching to micro-blogging on Twitter.
Half-correct. I'm twitting much more nowadays as I find the ease and convenience of microblogging, and it's dynamic and responses are immediate. Interaction is key for microblog sites like Twitter, and it's fishing for a different part of attention from me, apart from blogging.
But even with the sharp drop in readership here, blogging must continue. It started with the spirit of documentation more than 6 years ago, a diary-writing habit that I hoped to sustain. It did. 935 entries later, it remains a regularly updated site. It will continue, because it presents how I grow and think over the years, and if I randomly click on an entry in 2005, I will probably laugh at the immaturity and the events that had happened. All these can never be replaced by microblogging sites like Twitter.

I must say that I get a little more reflective than ever recently. It could be because of certain modules that I just took, or certain movies that I watched recently (read: 那些年,我们一起追的女孩) or somehow inspired by the sporting achievements by athletes in the recent SEA Games (Yes, I still follow major sporting events even during exams). I reckon that being reflective is an effective means of improving. The HR module had actually taught me important lessons like soliciting feedback from others. If you're reading this, and feel that there're burning feedback that you can't wait to express, there's always the tagboard on the left!
Anyway, exams are done with, but I'm anything but freed. FYP's the spoiler. And there's also interview preparations. But still, I'll find time to realise some holiday tasks. And probably, try to catch up on sleep......
