The finals of SUPERBAND had just settled. Hot favourite MiLuBing has just been crowned the No.1 Band in Singapore. They are the newest talents to join the ranks of many other budding new stars over the past year, who had entered the entertainment showbiz from a series of mediacorp's talent show platform.
By looking at the rate these talent -searching shows are produced, it wouldn't be surprising that the audience will gradually grow tired of this high-viewership-formula that had raked in undoubtedly enormous profits in each episode.
The 2nd series of project superstar is slated to begin registrations in early september. With a gap of just one month after the finals of SuperBand, it seems to be the longest interval so far between Singapore-produced talent shows. Ever since the start of Project Superstar 1 in 2005, these similarly-concepted shows had been hitting the TV screens like a running relay, from Campus Superstar to Star Idol to Superhost to SuperBand. And now, the 2nd round of the cycle will begin once again in september. Wouldn't it all be a tad too rush, producing too many potential stars in too short of time?
Personally i think the over-production of such shows would not only cause an accelerated audience rejection of these shows due to "fatigue", it would also serve to do these potential talents a dis-favour. Not all the Project Superstar 2005 signed-on singers have released their albums, like ChewSinHuey and HohWeiJian, and it wouldn't be long before the 2nd series winners to take over their popularity and have them forgotten. Without an adequate amount of time for them to establish their foothold in showbiz, they would be quickly replaced. I see this primarily as a waste of viewers' money.
Perhaps the company is blinded by the desire to produce more such high-viewership programmes at a time when these shows are high in demand, but personally I think it may lead to backfire, if the production rate is not regulated, as viewers may not want to see the same model of shows again and again.
Talent shows aren't the only reality-TV option available right?

i went for a swim today, something that i've been procrastinating for quite a while. Im glad that since my last real swim (those swimming tests in navy don't count lahh) more than 7 months ago, my stamina is still going strong. I equalled my personal best record of hitting 60 laps (3 kilometres leh!) without much of a problem..
I hope to be able to make it to the pool every saturday morning, and make it a weekly routine. But i myself know for sure that this may never happen, considering how lazy i am, and how enticing it is to be able to spend a whole morning sleeping away. Let's see huh.

Looks like the gals have all matriculated and school's starting for them! After 8 months of long break, the feeling of ending freedom to lead another phase of stressful life is understandably daunting. But many NS guys are actually missing school life. Up to a few months ago, i was missing school life as well. But now no longer. Cos im essentially attending lessons everyday and it feels just like an academic school now.
0800: Parade and Ceremony (reminds you of flag raising ceremonies??)
0820: Lessons start
1000: Canteen Break 1 (reminds you of recesses?)
1030: Lessons continue
1200: Lunch Break
1300: Lessons continue
1500: Canteen Break 2
1715: Sports & Games (reminds you of PE lessons??)
And there's also a test every week lor. So how could I ever miss school?

Is anyone interested to watch Helen the baby fox?? This is gonna be one movie i won't be missing.
Oh by the way, i've listened to F.I.R's new album songs, and they are worth listening. Slow and soothing songs are my picks as usual, but the faster-paced songs have caught my attention as well. Do find a chance to listen ok?
