My boss asked me to sit in for 2 interviews today, which I don't really have an idea why. It was quite an experience, though I only helped to ask 1 question and answered once.
Just a few months ago, I was sitting opposite my boss, tackling the questions she asked. Today, I was sitting beside her. It was easy to make comparisons between the 2 candidates from this side of the table. It was also easy to favour one person over the other from even the short interview sessions, but as a person who has undergone countless interviews over the past year, I can probably understand how they felt and why they fared in a certain way. Hence, it's never an accurate assessment of candidates just merely by the answers they gave.
By the end of the 2nd of the two interviews, I knew what my boss's choice would be. I couldn't help feeling sorry for the other person, because I know too well how it would feel. But then again, knowing what the job position entails, the candidate may not find the job a good fit too.
I don't like to disappoint people. Maybe I don't like interviews too.

张信哲《空出来的时间》世界巡回演唱会
Without a doubt, Jeff Chang delivered his numbers very well. It's the kind of concert where you don't get alot of screaming fans and a highly energetic audience, because what you'd need is just a pair of ears for the soulful performance.
Jeff Chang was the director for this concert tour, but I think the number of themes could be more streamlined. There was one theme with clown dancers and I liked how he explained the 2 extreme sides of a clown. Then some songs later, the stage transformed into a retro theme. Granted, the themes are well-thought-of, but putting too many ideas into one concert might make the segments seem a little disconnected.
He performed around 26 songs, including must-have-classics and some newer songs in recent albums. Here's the more-or-less complete list of songs that he performed in Singapore:
爱不留,逃生,空位,宽容,你会为我犯错吗,信仰,换房间,太想爱你,受罪,不要对他说,顺风车,做你的男人,找钥匙,宁静雪,用情,空出来的时间刚好拿来寂寞,从开始到现在,别怕我伤心,白月光,过火,爱就一个字,我的歌声里,单车与跑车,到处留情,爱如潮水
Personally, I felt that whenever a classic song came, it was a mini-climax for me. So, the concert was made up of many mini-climaxes. But the opposite is also true when an unheard-of song was sung. Thankfully, apart from 2 Cantonese songs and 2-3 faster-paced songs which I didn't quite fancy, the rest of the songs in the list were music to my ears.
However, one grouse I have, is that it ended too early. It's been quite awhile since I last watched a Chinese pop concert that ended at 11pm. (A*Mei's concert ended at 11:45pm!) An early end naturally meant that more classics that could have been sung, were compromised. It didn't help that the "Encore" segment wasn't too entertaining and much time was wasted there.
Jeff Chang had too many classics. Having performed quite a number of those during the concert, here are even more great classics that he could have done, if he didn't end so early:
难以抗拒你容颜、让我忘记你的脸、我是真的爱你、说谎、且行且珍惜、下一个永远、有一点动心、我们爱这个错、曾经爱过、爱情余味,and many more.......
Probably he could just focus on an all-classics show sometime, or like one of my concert-going friends said, look towards A*Mei's 40-minute classics medley. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.
