It was AHM today! I concede that the run was by far the most gruelling, BUT it was on the other hand, my most enjoyable run ever.I saw so many familiar faces today, since the entire army was involved in this event. So it really gave me the feeling that 'the whole country was running with me'. It's like, every now and then, you spot someone you recognise, either running alongside you, or standing along the 21km route.
5:30am: Official flag-off, but vin, junhua n i were still strolling to the START point.
5:39am: We started our competitive run.
6:00am: By this time, we had just turned into ECP expressway, when a car accident happened just beside us. I turned my head but couldn't spot the car-plate number though.6:30am: We reached East Coast Park, completed 9km and it was sunrise.7:00am: I lost both vin & junhua not long ago, and had returned to Fort Road, after the seemingly endless East Coast section. 15km done.7:10am: I made the super-tempting decision to stop for the first time after the 16km mark, after slight fatigue had started to creep in, and it proved to be a wrong move. As what everyone had said, the first pause in running WILL pave the way for many more to come. And so, the remaining route was full of jog-pause-drink-jog-pause-drink. And this became the more gruelling part. But i did enjoy cups after cups of 100-plus along the way.7:30am: I was at Nicholl Highway, still trying to convince myself to take less pauses. Not wanting to fail my already-very-humble target of 2.5 hours, I pressed on a while, but still paused many times.
7:45am: The Singapore Flyer seemed to be drawing nearer, and i was almost at the 19km mark. I thought about walking all the way to the end. But the thought quickly subsided, for fear of not completing the run by my goal of 8am. Furthermore, the constant encouragement from people along the routes did work a little for me. I remembered an Angmoh couple cheering people on, and another Japanese guy encouraging fatigue-stricken runners.7:52am: Reached the Floating Platform, the end of the 21km, rejoicing at the completion of the furthest distance i've ever covered, and thinking about how much harder it would be to do the Full Marathon some 14 weeks later.
It was just such a nice day today. But the death of a 25-year-old participant after the run was quite regrettable.
42.195km, here i come!

On another note, Campus Superstar 2 ended last night. The results still reflected largely of the 'Revival' phenomenon, where an ousted participant got 'revived' back to the competition and went on the claim the coveted title.
So the 13-year-old boy, whose vocals still reek of inexperience, won the hearts of auntie-voters and became the overall champion, depriving fellow participants who were all older than him.
That aside, the female champion, Keely Wee (above) did well during the final rounds too. And so, she's yet another example of a quality DunmanHigh product. WoohOo.
人生是黑白的.
