The end of my extended internship! I really thought 6 months passed too quickly--it seemed like yesterday when i was taking over from my pre-decessor in a very 'blur' state.
It had been really fun. At least the fellow interns made it so. The daily lunches and monthly outings and trips didn't go by without laughter. It was a multi-university and multi-national mix, and it adds on to the cool factor.
In the Pricing department, much was learnt too. I started off without knowing Excel (other than plotting graphs for Lab Reports), and left with more sophisticated Excel skills. Knowing much more about the Downstream processes in this lucrative industry from a business point of view, was another big takeaway. In the first place, the concepts and workings behind all these are not rocket science, but being able to be part of the process was more than I could ask for. I haven't even talk about the friendly staff and good working culture in the department.
And so the last week of work passed much quicker than other weeks did. It was, surprisingly, one of the busiest weeks too -- doing handover to my understudy. I even stayed up late to complete my farewell cards to the department. It all ended briefly with the surrender of my Access and building cards.
Ok wait, if it sounds too emo, it's not. More of a mixed feeling--happy that an important phase is completed and much had been gained through this experience, but not without a tinge of 不舍, because the fun and freedom life of an intern will never be found again, when working life starts.

After 2 weeks of video editing, I've finally closed the books on the Hong Kong Trip with 8 Episodes HERE. And am gonna make another short weekend trip up North again, into the lands of Malacca 6th-7th Aug, before the start of the legendary Final Year.

It's already the 2nd half of 2011. High time to re-look at the resolutions made at the start of the year!
1. Weigh 60kg.
The progress thus far: Poor. Nowhere near, even after half a year of sedentary lifestyle.
2. Put in time to revise Japanese. I've been attending weekly lessons without revising nor preparing. Time to stop this.
The progress thus far: Very Poor. Can't find time, which is really an excuse. More of the lack of motivation.
3. Increase exposure to Cantonese. I just hope that by the end of the year, I will know abit more than the nothingness at the moment.
The progress thus far: So far so good. From zero at the start of the year, to some basics now. Having a cantonese intern colleague and a trip to Hong Kong were catalysts.
4. Run 350km over the year, that's slightly less than 30km per month.
The progress thus far: So far so good. I've crossed the halfway mark. So if nothing goes wrong, it should be achievable.
5. Read. I need to clear the books borrowed from friends. And more.
The progress thus far: Poor. Have not cleared the backlog of books yet.
6. Enjoy my attachment from Jan~Jun. At the very least, I must learn as much as I can during the stint. Keep a log of the things learnt. At the same time, keep up with school work and do away with procrastination.
The progress thus far: Somewhat ok. I did enjoy attachment, kept a log of things learnt. Procrastination-wise, still working on it.
7. Be motivated doing FYP in the 2nd half of the year.
The progress thus far: N.A.
