I went to get FishLeong's album!
If the previous [Si Lu] album is rated a 7/10, then i guess this new [Qin Qin] will garner a 9/10! Not exaggerating! The first time i listen through, I was able to list at least 7 great hits that can all be Zhu Da.
Perhaps to recover from the poor sales of [Si Lu] last year, the team behind this new album put in alot of effort to make it one of the more powerful albums of 2006. The music company, Rock Records, even pumped in a huge amount of money, with a plan to publicise this album widely from Mid Autumn Festival 2006 all the way until Valentine's Day 2007. Fish Leong will be seen and heard everywhere during this period in taiwan.
I went "Sembawang" to buy, and i bought the version that comes with a free FishLeong2007 calendar. ANd there's a lucky draw coupon inside that awards 500 winners to a mini concert+autograph at THE MAX PAVILLION on 25 Nov 06. whoa, i really hope to be picked lor. And hopefully i'll be free from any official work on that day. Then there's also another version that doesnt have all that above, but has a 32-page pictorial inside.
`
THE SONGS::
`
1.『四季』is composed by this year's Best Female Vocalist, Tanya Chua. It's said that Fish heard Tanya sang it once during composing and immediately asked for it. Accoustic & sentimental!
`
2.『暖暖』is one of my favourites! It is the 2nd Zhu Da in Taiwan and is hailed to be the winter version of [Ning Xia]!! The tune is easily familiared. Sweet song.
`
3.『可乐戒指』is another great song by Mayday's A-Xin. Another of my favourite song. Its certainly a K love song!
`
4.『失忆』is Singapore's 2nd Zhu Da!! The song's composer and lyricist are both JAY CHOU! This sad song has a tinge of Jay's feel, but once you've heard FishLeong singing it, you'll find that there's no other substitute singers for this song. A saddening and heartwrenching song.
`
5.『亲亲』is the Zhu Da song. A combination of sweet and sour in this song that depicts First Love. If you read the lyrics, you'll notice that its actually a saddening song about the kiss in a first love. She managed to bring out the feel and made the song director dropped his tears. The tune can be easily remembered after hearing twice.
`
6.『幸福洋果子店』is a sweet love song. The first impression i got from this song, is how positive i'll feel when i can hear this song the first thing i wake up in the morning. It would certainly make my day! Perhaps i'd try it someday! Listen out for the chorus!!!
`
7.『小手拉大手』is an positive and cute song. When you hear it, you'll instantly recognise that this song had been sang before..by Zeng Baoyi. Her version was [Zhuan Zhu]. But the new FishLeong version added new insights into it. Perhaps that is due to the brand-new lyrics done by CHEN QI ZHEN!
`
8.『飞鱼』was a Korean song with newly created Chinese lyrics. This song is nice, and please listen out to how FishLeong's voice changes throughout the song!! This cannot be done by just any female singers! Yes, it sure reminds me of her [Bu Xiang Shui], the way her voice changes!!
`
9.『不是我不明白』is FishLeong's latest DUET! This is another of my favourite! Just like other duets, this one will surely touch you. I am personally touched by the story told by the 2 singers in the song. A sad love song in nature, a must-listen for those who love these type of songs!!
`
10.『小心眼』is sang together by FishLeong and Chen Qi Zhen. A soothing song that is of high quality, with strengths pit together from both divas. Be surprised!!!
`
11.『憨过头』is a FishLeong's first Hokkien SOng!! This song is damn damn damn K!!! Woah, its a great song in fact lor. I guess this is gonna be my first well-learnt Hokkien song already!! If its a CHinese song, i guess it'll hit major charts lor!!
`
12.『序』is composed by FishLeong herself. ANd i thought her skill is not bad!! A sweet mini story with a soothing tune. But this is a really short song, lasting just 3 minutes.
Do give your support to this album. It is worth your money, trust me!!

Yesterday was k-box session with my Navy Rns friends: jinxiong, yixiang, menghwee. My first return to k-box, after many k-ster sessions, didnt turn out to be fantastic, cos there was a system failure halfway, and our songs were all erased. Seems like kbox continues to suck, just that the only good thing is that new songs always land at kbox first. But anyway, its weird to hear everyone singing, it was quite funny. And they were quite surprised to note the difference in my voice when i sing instead of speak.
Immediately after it ended, we gave up the initial plan to play pool and went straight to jx's semi-d house. And here we had our 2ND ROUND of k-ing!!! Guess what.. There's an extension to his 3-storey house--A 4th Storey studio for Karaoke!! My, that's so cool and shuang lor.. If he has the kind of system that works like those karaoke outlets, with all the updated songs inside that can be retrieved by just pressing on a control, then that would be the best liao!! I'm a bit envious.....
--------------
Then, I went ntu together with ys, as we had planned to stayover at jiaozhu's hall for fun, since she has got no lessons the next day (which is today). In other words, me and ys crashed the hall la..
But we got lost even before meeting her. Alighted 1 bus stop earlier, we went into the wrong building and it took quite a while before we navigated ourselves to the correct place. And then, after meeting her, we went to the mass comm sch, where there's a party. And we ate free food!!! Wah, imagine how the organisers would hate us if they know we are crashers.
We left straight after food and went to her room. Then we went ADM, the arts school that was on the papers a month ago. THe school's creatively designed, with steep slopes of grass that u can walk on, all the way from ground floor to roof top. We took a couple of photos, which i promise i'll upload once they are in my hands.
Then we went to Hall 2 to play Spades with one of her new friends. Its really really really rare to find ppl who has even heard of Spades, let alone knowing how to play. I guess we would have played all night long, if not because her friend needed to go out at 11pm..
Then its visiting time. Since we were at ntu, and 6 out of 8 of our class gals are staying at ntu, we decided to drop by their rooms. We saw huishan on the bus earlier, then met jingting while on the way to siying+caiying's room. THen together we went peishan's hall, and then dropped by pinting's. And since it was a rare opportunity, we took some photos as well, and updated on everyone's life. The class gals kept saying 'long time no see', but i guess they were really too occupied with their studies to realise that we had actually met less than 2 months ago to watch fireworks.. But anyway, like what jiaozhu said, if we had brought oranges along, it would seem like CNY house visiting! And also, it seems alot like chalet, and it feels quite relaxing and fun. Ok, CORRECTION, only YS and i felt relaxing and fun la, cos its quite evident how their stressed faces showed otherwise.
Then, back at jiaozhu's hall, it was already about 2:30am when we wanted to start watching vcd at the hall lounge. I dozed off 5 minutes after it started, but the 2 of them endured to the end. We slept at the lounge until don't know what time, before we were awoken by a guard, who chased us back to our room.
THE NEXT MORNING....
After a late lunch, YS and I + Jiaozhu and her roomie went to ADM again. This time round, we took more nice photos at the sloping grass landscape and at the fountain. I'll upload them asap. ANd with that, our fun ntu hall experience ended.~

Then in the afternoon, met wx at marina sq to have dessert at a jap restaurant. I tink the restaurant really specialises in desserts lor, the variety is great and all are mouth-watering! I'll surely return for more desserts de..!
Tmr's the official release of fishleong's new album, and im quite excited about it, cos its 13 months since her previous. But i doubt the cds will be in town tmr, so i hope to get it on monday or tuesday next week. Let's just hope that i won't be required to stay-in during that first few days of new posting to a ship, if not i'd really be so sian-ed.

today's the last day im a trainee in imos.
I entered this camp next to changi naval base in March this year, and that was more than half a year ago. Initially, i felt lost and puzzled over why I was being transferred from the army to navy, and i knew practically no one else who was with me. At the very first stage, under TCCS, i remembered doing absolutely nothing for the whole day, for almost 2 months, while waiting for the Junior Rating Course(JRC) to start. Those days were really too good to be true, and I couldnt believe the luck i actually had, compared to all my counterparts in the army.
In May, JRC started and we were now under General Naval Training Centre (GNTC). That 2 months made up the less desirable days in Imos, as I personally disliked some of the instructors. But their inflexibility and unfairness, their attitude towards trainees and their so-called 'culture', were to be accommodated for the big number of trainees under them. What i learnt in JRC was really the very basics of seamanship, and, to be very frank, I've since returned everything back to the instructors. Because, I really couldn't care less.
End July, after JRC, i was posted to Navigation and Detection Training Centre (NDTC) for my next training phase. I remembered attending the course opening brief on the first day, and I thought that my choice to choose be an RNS is the right one. Not just because what i would be learning would be more practical, but also because of the care that the TC gives its trainees. I've seen it for myself how understanding the TC instructors were, and how happy everyone was under the TC. Our SI has been one of the more respectable figures i've seen in my NS stint so far. Under him, i feel very much protected. And, together with our understanding instructors, that had really made my days under NDTC the best part over the past 6+ months' stay at imos.
I know that whenever the time comes for a change in environment, there'll be some nostalgia within. This time was no different. Perhaps routine has long settled in, and i've grown very accustomed to what my life in Imos had been. Of course, the friends i've made over the past 6 months had been one major factor. I made new friends at each stage in Imos, but sadly, lost some too, due to the lost in contact after they were posted out one by one. Nevertheless, they had indeed made footprints along my journey and had added colours and spices throughout. Yup, they are the only ones that can truly understand what Navy personnels go through. They are the only people that I can truly relate to, inside the camp. And when my friends outside the saf asks me about my life in Navy, i know that they would not be able to understand when i mention 'colours', 'rounds', 'heads', 'domestics' and too many others, and many times im just too lazy to share with them.
The end of trainee life at imos, signals the start of a more challenging life ahead. Being a qualified rating, there'll be no more excuses that im still a 'trainee' or being 'inexperienced'. Days will never be the same again. No more illegal short naps in class or cabins when instructors are not present. No more spoon-feeding, nor the extensive welfare and flexibility given by the instructors. What lies ahead would be the more rigid shipboard life and plenty of sailings. And being the most junior crew member, it is still uncertain how the other regulars will treat us. ANd that is why none of us wanted to post out.. But still, time has come for us to move on, and we would have to stay positive and look ahead.
I'll just want to wish all my fellow batchmates (whether posted out or still at imos), a good ship life ahead and may everyone shine in their own area of discipline after ORD.

Our Journey in NDTC
JTQT NCSO (RNS) CL I-MGB 1/06
In a day in July our journey began,
NDTC is the new foreign land.
Pass this course we know we can,
If we unite hand in hand.
*****
Staff Chan is our commander,
How we wished it were forever.
His new methods, we learnt better
And rules that made us surrender! J
*****
And then here comes our Mr. Pun,
Whose presence is a direct boon.
The rise of the sun and the set of the moon,
He taught us all without feeding from a spoon.
*****
Rumours tainted our views of Staff Sebastian,
But no longer so after a whole day of lessons.
That yellow watch may not be a fashion,
But he’s flexible and competent!
*****
Dogwatch is what our TC believes.
But once we know our SI’s on leave,
Or even CAT 1 weather’s achieved,
Nothing can hide our immediate relief!
*****
Sentosa’s where we took a break,
Tracom’s birthday to celebrate.
That game we were told to participate,
Emerging as winners is not mere fate!
*****
After that comes Tracom Sprint,
A day of gruelling run and swim.
We pit our energy in this once-only stint,
But SI sir we still couldn’t win!
*****
Tests after tests we had to face,
One by one we managed to ace.
Hard work and diligence come into place,
Lessons by instructors never gone to waste.
*****
There was once that we made them frowned,
One wrong step cost the trust they had found.
In one common voice that gives us one sound,
“Never again shall we let them down!”
*****
One major project, the classroom painting,
Time and again there were rejected planning.
Weeks and weeks of silent complaining,
The room now seems much more happening!
*****
And now that the course has come to its end,
Five stronger people still stand hand in hand.
As we await our new journey commence,
Instructors: We have you all to thank!

initially, i thought i would be fretting over a dull weekend this week, but a series of last-minute activities proved that i'd actually had not enough time for my personal needs.
Saturday:
1. siang and i were persuaded, at quite a last minute, by royz to join 2 of his female classmates (huixian + michelle) to eat fried mars bars, and surprisingly, that was indeed the sole agenda of the mini gathering. i thought that was really quite dumb. But roy, siang and i went on to marina sq and we had a really unexpected long discussion of 2 hours on music. Not that we actually know music (in fact we know nuts), just that being fanatics of karaoke-ing, it was quite apt for us to share anything on 'K'. And we decided to have a session the next day.
2. siang and i went on to yang's house, together with liang, for a quite-last-minute
plan to play mj overnight. But we did everything else, except mj. Our lethargy couldn't commit us to a full-fledged game of mj lor. But anyway, once again we really have to thank his mum for the great hospitality.
Sunday:
3. the 'K' session is held at an unexpected place--a community centre. I've always thought karaoke-ing at CCs is only for our valued seniors in the population. but thanks to royz, i realised im wrong. the song list at the toa payoh branch is very updated! And the prices are quite reasonable. But actually our main motive of going to a CC, is to sing at the main hall. You know, those kind of big area where there are audiences watching you, and you will sing solo at a platform in front? I thought it would be a good chance for us to boost our confidence and also to taste the experience of 'performing'. But too bad the main hall had around 11 ppl, which meant that it would be a long wait between our turns, hence we scurried off to an enclosed room.
Coming week:
Anyway, the coming week will be a short one, cos i'll be having off/leave from Wed to Fri. Im planning to crash NTU on wednesday, and if anyone there is free to entertain me on that day, do tell me so k..
------------------------
My top 3 favourite songs this week:
1. 亲亲 [梁静茹]
2. My Only Chance [Kit Chan] (one of the musical pieces from Forbidden City)
3. 雨天 [孙燕姿]
