April had been a little more eventful at work.
It first started with a series of kickoffs for the new financial year, of which I was arrowed appointed to be the emcee for our department's kickoff. I can't recall being an emcee for any events before, with the closest experience being the Game Master for some of the teambuilding events during my teambuilding stint a few years ago. (Oh ya wait, I just recounted that I had actually done a little introduction for a film festival movie last year.)
And so I thought I'd be nervous. I was personally surprised when it turned out to be really alright. I used to be really uncomfortable on stage, like 瑞恩, but I guess more and more exposure had taken care of that. There wasn't a script for the kickoff event, because there really wasn't a need for one, but I was glad that I made one or two self-proclaimed witty statements. On hindsight, I realised there were opportunities for more impromptu ones, which I had missed out on. But hey, all these would only come with more experience.
Then, there was the Kaizen project presentation. It was a inter-department competition, based on the Kaizen steps to solving problems. Our group was the first presentation group, and I was one of the 2 presenters. Honestly speaking, our group didn't think too highly of ourselves, because we really felt that our project was lacking in quite some areas. So we completed our project without the strong desire to win. But the number of positive comments that came after our presentation kinda lifted our hopes and gave us quite abit of encouragement. The final results turned out that we didn't get into Top 3. There wasn't much disappointment, because we had really 'managed' our own expectations right from the beginning, but hearing people say things like "I thought your group would win!", was really, really heartening.
Cheers to more eventful happenings at work!
