It's the Christmas season once again. I always had to crack my head to think about what to give my colleagues in the office. I ruled out food items, because it would be so cliche, and once eaten, nobody would remember it. I was looking for a customised gift, which would preferably be one that the receiver can place on their desks.
So a trip to Daiso begun..
And the first thing that saw, became the eventual raw material to make the gifts:
I bought ALOT of wooden cubes. My creative juices immediately came on: I started to have many ideas about the different uses for them. I even thought about using a soldering iron to create simple designs on them. But considering the huge amount of time that would potentially be needed, I settled on the easy way out: using markers and pens.
And because each cube is quite small to make any drawings visible, I decided to use 4 for each gift.
And because each cube has 6 faces, I decided to create a 5-days-of-the-week thing, plus a customised face for the receiver's name.
Tada! This is what each little cube puzzle looked like:
And soon enough, I realised I was making for many, many colleagues. With the given amount of time I had before Christmas eve arrived, I made a total of 40 sets:
Each cube puzzle set also came completed with a handwritten postcard of my Mt Rinjani trip. There were a total of 10 designs.
I wrote a total of 55 postcards for my colleagues.
I suppose I can now claim the title of the 'Most effort put in' Christmas gift. Ho ho ho.
人生是黑白的.
