Sundown Festival 2013
A complimentary ticket (Credits to Kelvin Kho) brought me to this music event that I'd normally not have attended, because it's a zapalang concert. Out of the 10 regional artistes (from Indonesia / Thailand / Philippines / China / Taiwan / Japan / Korea / Hong Kong), we only know 2 of them, and decided to just stay for them.
林宥嘉 was the Taiwan representative, and was the only act that I was looking forward to. It's already been a year since he did his Solo Concert in Singapore, and tonight's chance to listen to his performance was truly a bonus. Because it's a zapalang concert, he could only do 5 songs, of which only 3 songs were his own. The downside of such mixed concerts is always that when you're starting to get into the mood of the performance, it's almost coming to an end. Nevertheless, his 说谎 and 自然醒 were great.
We left halfway through 黄宗泽's performance, the only other performer we could name. There was still quite a crowd left in this free-standing venue (Marina Promenade), and I suppose they were waiting for a Japanese visual kei band and another Korean girl group.
Judging from my own evaluation, it's really quite a small turnout, and I somehow felt that quite a number of attendees were probably VIPs / crew / holders of complimentary tickets. The small turnout could also be because people come and stay just for the 1-2 performances that they're familiar with. I also find it weird, that out of the 8 countries represented, there wasn't any singers from Singapore. Even if they couldn't get A-listers, there should be a handful from major singing competitions here?
人生是黑白的.
