WHAT.A.TRIP. I'll consider doing a more detailed entry on it, but here's a Summary:
1. Of revisiting places
I just went Munich last year. Going Munich again this year bred joys of familiarity, in taking trains, in visiting beer halls and in walking the same trails again. Neuschwanstein was still dreamlike. Zugspitze was however, slightly disappointing because of the foul foggy weather at the top. Garmisch-Partenkirchen somehow still inspired me of how a dream retirement place should look like. I really didn't mind revisiting these places again.
2. Of visiting new places
The Black Forest, where I really loved all the towns. The historical cities of Augsburg and Wursburg, and the many other old towns along the Romantic Road, where rich histories await being discovered. The old town at Freiburg, where old remains old. The Stelvio Pass, where the winding roads put it one of Europe's most challenging. Many new places, new excitement, new memories.
3. Of setting foot on 4 countries in 1 day
From Germany to Austria to Italy to Switzerland to Austria to Germany. 4 countries, 3 people, 2 cameras, 1 car.
4. Of beer, beer, beer
Every day. For 11 consecutive days. A total of 7.5 litres of beer from 9 different brands. Shiok max.
5. Of daily sumptuous food
Hearty power breakfasts. Sumptuous 好料 every night. Traditional Bavarian cuisines; Putensteak; Bratwursts; Sauerkraut; potatoes. The thought of any brings saliva to my mouth.
6. Of an unforgettable road trip
Covering a total of 2000km in a week. Zooming at 220km/h on the Autobahn. Open-top BMW convertible. Superb views along the mountains roads. Crazy sunsets. The long and characteristic Romantic Road. The countless towns that we drove through that breathed life unto us. What more can we ask?
7. Of new experiences
Sleeping in a caravan? Taking 10 Roller Coaster rides in 4 hours? Travelling at 220km/h on a road? Standing on a moving open-top car? Being right at the site of the World Famous Oktoberfest and getting high with the warm Bavarians? All checked.
Really memorable, probably because work stress had made me look forward to it since a long long time ago. I began counting down to it since more than a 100 days ago! 11 days were too short, but I was glad that Happiness was intense.
