ONE week of Olympics down. I had been watching it full-time, all the way till 4am every morning since the Opening Ceremony. I'm not one who might catch up on the football craze, but I am definitely one who gets drawn to major combined Games. I am a fan of the regional SEA Games, the bigger Asian Games, the multi-national Commonwealth Games and of course, The Olympic Games is the most important of all.
Not being employed at the moment does have its benefits after all, in catching the live actions in London 2012. I probably will never get this chance again once the working life starts and it's deeply cherished. I caught many historic moments during these Games, of which some had been pretty inspirational, including the way Michael Phelps became the Most Celebrated Olympian of All Time when he collected his 18th medal, all the way to his 22nd, his last. And I also witnessed the tenacity of Feng Tianwei, in her singles semifinals match against China's Ding Ning. And also felt a tinge of sadness watching how some Olympians crumbled under pressure and couldn't deliver, and had to leave that world stage in tears. Lessons aplenty for them, and for us too, the normal people. That's Olympics.
Just 1 more week of the Games left, but most of the sports that I had some interests in would have been concluded by tonight. It's probably time for me to take a little breather and also start to hit the pool once again. And when the Closing Ceremony is over next week, it's also time for the billions of sports fans around the world to return to their normal life again, as had been always.
人生是黑白的.
