Let the Games begin! I get excited whenever major sporting events come. The Olympic Games are one that I'd follow, and still being unemployed at the moment, I can really follow it through the nights.
I caught the London 2012 Opening Ceremony and it was just spectacular. I like how it's so uniquely British, and they really did not spare any chances to showcase their history, their feats and their influence over the world. Things that had made the British proud made it to the ceremony, including their village culture, the Industrial Revolution, British pop and music (including the rock bands), British drama and movies (including James Bond), British humour (Mr Bean), the National Healthcare Service, British export of well-known children's tales (including JK Rowling's), major football superstars and even, the inventor of the Internet.
The lighting of the cauldron was very unique and cool, with a group of youngsters sharing that honour, instead of a traditional gold-medallist sportsman.
Watching the Opening Ceremony from Asia meant staying up very late (or rather, early in the morning), and that is probably going to be the case for me for the next 2 weeks, if I were to catch my favourite events at this Games.
But this being once in 4 years, some little sacrifice of sleep is justifiable.
人生是黑白的.
