Se7en.
That's the number of years this blog has existed! I am as surprised as you, at how long this has lasted. It has definitely outlived many of my friends' blogs, and yea, I'm proud of it. Yea, even when nobody drops by anymore.
As part of an annual ritual, I went to read my first-ever entry. 3 sentences down, I began to cringe and closed it. Hello, I invite anyone here to take a look. Ok, I change my mind. It never fails to show me how much I've matured in the past 7 years. At the very least, I will never go back to blogging in lousy English and in a tone as childish as that.
I started this activity at a time when blogging seems to be a 'girls' thing. Or rather, more girls were blogging than boys. That was the Friendster era. (Does Friendster still exist now?) And then all of a sudden Facebook entered the social networking world. And by the time Twitter came on strong, blogging was slowly losing its charm.
BUT TWITTER CAN NEVER REPLACE BLOGGING. I say that even when I'm a slave to Twitter right now. Nothing can be adequately conveyed in 140 characters, and it does not seem very practical to pour out memorable happenings in a micro-blogsite which deletes your tweets after 1 week. Blogging, on the other hand, has allowed me (and you) full access to all I've written over the past 7 years. But Twitter still has its appeal on me, and I'm liking it a little more than Facebook now.
I just want to say, this site is still pretty much ALIVE.
Probably it may even celebrate its Eighth. Who knows?
人生是黑白的.
