The end of my extended internship! I really thought 6 months passed too quickly--it seemed like yesterday when i was taking over from my pre-decessor in a very 'blur' state.
It had been really fun. At least the fellow interns made it so. The daily lunches and monthly outings and trips didn't go by without laughter. It was a multi-university and multi-national mix, and it adds on to the cool factor.
In the Pricing department, much was learnt too. I started off without knowing Excel (other than plotting graphs for Lab Reports), and left with more sophisticated Excel skills. Knowing much more about the Downstream processes in this lucrative industry from a business point of view, was another big takeaway. In the first place, the concepts and workings behind all these are not rocket science, but being able to be part of the process was more than I could ask for. I haven't even talk about the friendly staff and good working culture in the department.
And so the last week of work passed much quicker than other weeks did. It was, surprisingly, one of the busiest weeks too -- doing handover to my understudy. I even stayed up late to complete my farewell cards to the department. It all ended briefly with the surrender of my Access and building cards.
Ok wait, if it sounds too emo, it's not. More of a mixed feeling--happy that an important phase is completed and much had been gained through this experience, but not without a tinge of 不舍, because the fun and freedom life of an intern will never be found again, when working life starts.
