Bus adventures on a Sunday morning.
#1: Home to Orchard
I slept throughout the journey from home to Orchard--standing. Wait a minute, sleeping-while-standing is an art that I'm already proud of, because I rely on this on my daily MRT commute to school. Sleeping-while-standing on the bus is nothing new too, but I was pretty surprised at how soundly and uninterrupted today's journey was.
I boarded the bus, found a good standing spot against the window, and rested my right hand on the standing support (meant for wheelchair-bound passengers). The NEXT THING I knew, was that I was pretty near my destination. It was refreshing.
I stole a quick glance to my left, to check if there were camera-equipped STOMPers. Phew.
#2: Orchard to Home.
Thankfully there were empty seats and I immediately sat at my Favourite Corner, right at the back. I took out The Sunday Times and started reading, but without knowing why, I suddenly lifted my head and witnessed a Near-miss. It was just centimetres away from disaster--a speeding car braked JUST in time to avoid hitting our speeding bus on the left side. Shrieks, screams and shouts were all spontaneous. I would certainly be scared to death if I had sat at those seats--the potentially direct hit, instead of my Favourite Corner.
It made me recount the many near-misses I've had so far, both land and water-related, and be thankful for the alertness of the people around, to mitigate the disastrous consequences.
人生是黑白的.
