The BLUE route was the 21km we did today!
Esplanade Bridge--Collyer Quay--Raffles Place--The Float@Marina Bay--Bayfront Bridge--Marina Bay Sands--Sheares Bridge--East Coast Parkway--Fort Road--East Coast Park--Mountbatten Road--Nicoll Highway--F1 Pit Building--Singapore Flyer--Esplanade--Padang.
Having to wake up at 3:45am today, I didn't get much sleep, especially when my body has turned nocturnal. But the thought of doing a race gave me some excited boosts at certain points.
The new Bayfront Bridge's slope wasn't very steep. The Sheares Bridge seemed not that difficult to climb this year too. I was at East Coast Park when the sun rose, and it wasn't a long stretch there this year too. In a way, I felt the route was quite enjoyable. I could even consume a banana, which I don't think I'd done before in a 21-km race. No cramps, no stitches, no blisters, no pain. What could be better than this!
The last 6km seemed far and long, and the inner voice just had to keep enticing me to stop. "Rest a LITTLE when you see 17km!" or "Stop momentarily at 19km!". But when it seemed so close to breaking my personal record, I really had to combat these calls, and eventually completed without stopping.
Saw a few familiar faces today. And eventually had an unintended DHSNPCC gathering!
Official net timing will be out soon!
