It's horrible that it's ALREADY July.
And so, high time to REVIEW this year's resolutions. And attempt to TWEAK and AMEND, so that it won't look so bad at the end of the year!
---------------------------------
#1:
In January: "I want to put on weight. Consume more calories than what my high metabolism can erase. For the first time, I want to see a 60kg."
Verdict after half a year: Still fail. I'm still 4 or 5kg away. I really can't do much about it.
#2:
In January: "I want to read often. Make use of the 2.5 hours of commute time to and fro NUS. Actually I just need half of that time--1 hour per day. I hope 4 books this year is not too difficult."
Verdict after half a year: When I typed that in January, I knew it was bound to fail. It did. But not totally. I did read. Not books, but TIME magazine. And it shall continue for the 2nd half of the year.
#3:
In January: "I want to achieve a running mileage of 450km this year. If divided by 52 weeks in a year, that is about 8.7km per week. Doesn't sound very difficult, but a great deal of discipline is needed."
Verdict after half a year: Currently barely completed 140km. But the "8.7km per week" should still be able to fulfill hor, Vincent?
#4:
In January: "I want to swim often. Try to make time to hit the pool once fortnightly. Build stamina to a level that I am confident enough to set my eyes on a biathlon before graduation. This needs a greater discipline than running."
Verdict after half a year: Failed terribly! During semester, I was too busy. During holidays, I'm too lazy. But I did attempt the NUS Biathlon this year, and it just tells me that I shouldn't be too ambitious, haha!
#5:
In January: "I want to increase CAP. Definitely. If I get A- for ALL my mods this year, it will read a 3.9 by the end of the year. Er.... ya, that is IF I get A- for ALL my mods. I'm gonna increase the intensity of mugging."
Verdict after half a year: Still fail. I did increase CAP marginally, but still very far from the 3.9 by the end of the year. Achieving A- is like asking me to sky-dive.
#6:
In January: "I want to volunteer for Shanghai World Expo and Youth Olympic Games. If all goes well, my Summer break will almost be entirely crossed out. In the event that I am not shortlisted for either one, the backup plans will be to go travelling during that period. This year's summer shall be as fulfilling as the previous."
Verdict after half a year: PLANS do change! I wasn't shortlisted for World Expo. I got into YOG momentarily, only to volunteer myself to be taken out. I did stick to the backup plans--if all goes well, I would have left Singapore 4 times by the end of this Summer.
#7:
In January: "I shall be a more societal-responsible person. Towards people and the environment. A greener lifestyle is not difficult. This sounds vague, but just like environmental summits, it's not easy to be quantified."
Verdict after half a year: 再接再厉。
人生是黑白的.
