I caught 2 good movies back-to-back today.
“唐山大地震”isn't a docu-movie. This 2-hour-long story revolves around a pair of boy-girl twins, whose lives were changed dramatically when the mother could only choose one of them to save. The movie dealt with issues like choices, favouritism, identity, forgiveness etc.
"Inception" is one of the 2 best movies I've watched this year, after Avatar in January. Impactful movies like Inception, will stay with me for quite awhile. I definitely salute the director who took 8 years to fine-tune and produce such an intriguing story, and seriously wonder if Asian filmmakers can ever keep up. This is probably one rare movie that I witnessed the audience CLAPPING after it ended, and remaining in their seats to start DISCUSSING with their friends. Like "Avatar", the main mechanism that kept the story going, was BRILLIANT. And it's super rare that I did not at any one time doze off in this 2.5-hour movie.
With the 2 movies today, I would probably have concluded my movie quests this Summer. Having caught at least 4 great movies this Summer, especially the ones today, is really something worth feeling happy about.
