A Sea Tiger gathering last Friday. Probably the 3rd time since I ORDed 16 months ago. (1st was the Final Ship Dinner, 2nd was during Decommissioning parade)
Like it seemed, quite a number of them are no longer serving.. but i don't personally know a few of them too, who were posted out of the ship when i was posted in.
Nevertheless, it's really much appreciated for the organisers to put the ex-crews together. Never mind about the lousy food. (I thought I could spam on those lobsters and crabs and crayfish and prawns like the last time we went there) As far as i know, my batchboys from other ships don't really have gatherings. Or perhaps they weren't invited at all. And so I really feel honoured.
And yup, i admit that SOMETIMES i do look back at those sailing days. Those days were tough, and i knew i dreaded sailing when i was serving, but well, those were days when i really experienced how a professional navy works, under real-time operations.
And I'll smile at those times when we were in harbour and how we, the NSFs, were bitching about people. And how i'd occasionally act busy.(note: Occasionally only) And how we chionged DVDs during weekend duties before the damned TV in foremess was spoilt. And how i'd emo during night duties. And how i'd sometimes hallucinate and scare myself when patrolling the empty ships.
Each of our memories will continue to be talking points when we meet up time and again.
