Yay, the bash has ended!
Pretty glad that it was a great success. The performers did well, the sales was great, and the crowd was supportive. And personally, I feel the programme was one of the better ones around, and not to mention the great amount of sponsors that were garnered. There was even a need for 2 rounds of lucky draws, and a huge prize package for pageant winners. And not to forget, at least 4 different media were present to cover the event!
Initially, as late as 4 days before the event, the sales were still slow and few. By tuesday, we barely crossed 200, and this was worrying, as we had promised Zouk a minimum of 800. Then miraculously, sales picked up and the tally crossed 500 on Thursday. By the end of Friday, the number shot up to 900! The first target set by Zouk was hence reached, and the break-even level was met.
The 4-hour door sales on Saturday was brisk too, adding about 200 more to the tally. With that, the target of 1000 tickets set by the Union was met. Even at the last minute at 10pm, there were still people buying the tickets and entering. Every extra ticket sales brought extra encouragement to us in the Sales Team. Something that seemed impossible just a week ago (when we sold a grand total of 5 tickets in the first week) became not just possible, but we even surpassed targets. That's really the best part.
And it's also encouraging to see bash-goers conforming to the theme of Geek vs Glam, and dressed accordingly. Of course, the worst case scenario would be just the entire committee dressing as Geeks. But there was a good number of bash-goers dressed up in Geek--and some were pretty elaborate. I'm sure any one of us in the comm would be relieved.
With such inaugural success, I'm sure this bash will continue next year. And it's a good move to combine the 2 most popular bash together as one, for the first time. The combined turnout is so much more than the 300-400 each when they're separate.
