And finally... for the annual lookback before I officially close 2008:
A Summarised 2008
January
The year started off with a list of gatherings--with a 4B dinner, NP chalet, OCIP potluck, Ship crew NSFs dinner etc. Meetings for GaiaMania (the environment-themed concert) started to get intensive this month. My 4-nights weekly job at STB call centre continued and I slowly got used to the odd timings. And then, I got a tuition lobang which I am currently still holding on, since the victim student lives just above. It was also in this month that I finally decided to do the Sundown Marathon in May2008. Before the month ended, I attended the First of a countless number of 21st Birthday Celebrations.
February
Went up to visit KL relatives during the long CNY break, and the entire group of M'sian relatives went Genting. I managed to sneak into the casino after being rejected at numerous entrances, since I was still 5 months shy of 21 years. So, i finally got my First feel of being inside one. The teambuilding company also had a CNY dinner and we had superb seafood!! Meetings for GaiaMania became even more intensive this month. And the Spades gang got to know the Dawgz gang, which combined to plan a birthday surprise for Ger in May.
March
Attended the annual NPCC camp at BG. And finally, GaiaMania concluded with a successful concert at NTUC Audi. Personally, I thought it could be much better though, but it was everyone's First time. And my efforts in producing the Press Release didn't get published in any papers. In this month, I also tried my First-ever Night Cycling with Sharon's church friends. And I got invited by Sg Flyer to try on it before it's grand opening, since my night job as a call operator at STB might require certain experiences to speak of.
April
Tried my First ever (and so far the only time) Wakeboarding experience, and it was fun and unforgettable. Attended a dharma talk by Ajahn Brahm. And started to attend dharma talks at Bras Basah. Enrolled into Pyaess for filler Japanese class, while waiting for the next level to start at Bunka. Surprisingly, Pyasess classmates were nice and we've had a few outings and house visits. I-weekly mentioned http://www.pickofthepops.blogspot.com/, bringing more traffic to this co-owned portal with wenjian. Lasertagging also started this month, opening up more deals for us to work in. I picked up a 4th simultaneous income (after STB, teambuilding, tuition), and that is to teach weekly 1-hour conversational mandarin at a secondary school.
May
I got invited to witness the decommissioning ceremony of my unit in navy: RSS Sea Tiger. For the First time, I did the 3-step-1-bow at 光明山on Vesak Day. There was also Squad Night Cycling, and we stormed through the city in the wee hours. The month ended with my completion of Sundown Marathon, which was more challenging than Stanchart, but I managed to improve my timing marginally. It was very unfortunate that vincent missed out on the run due to chicken pox.
June
In June, I ended my 6-month-long part-time at STB. I attended Engin Camp, and enjoyed it so much that I am in 2009's camp's programmes team. Shortly after the camp, there was a Engin Club Night Cycling and I attended it too. This made it my 3rd night cycling in less than 4 months.
July
The month started with my simple celebration of 21st. I attended Union Camp, and it was quite fun too, though i prefered EnginCamp more. I set foot in Esplanade Theatre for the second time (after 'Forbidden City') to watch MagicBox with Japanese Classmates from Pyaess. This month was full of outings, with OGs, squad picnic, BMT mates, and more. Towards the end of the month, I crashed Chess Camp, and it wasn't as good as i thought. My Teambuilding company had a company outing too, and we went DragonBoating and had a great dinner! Classmate Jane from Pyaess hosted a Japanese-style BBQ and the thought of it now still makes me salivate. July ended with being matriculated into NUS.
August
I attended Orientation, which was boring. Uni life started with much dread, and sometimes i just dislike the superficiality. Luckily there was a 民歌餐厅gathering with squadmates. ANd i was totally blown away by the Olympics Fever, tuning to the events every day, and getting hyped up when Sg won a Silver. I also attended my First 夏祭り (Summer Festival) at The Japanese School with Pyaess classmates. This year's Army Half Marathon was completed with vincent and junhua, and we ran on the Marina Barrage. The month ended with the OCIP peeps booking a trip to Miri, for JULY2009, almost a year later.
September
Attended Bizcom Camp, though I didn't want to play an active role in this CCA. Went to the last FishLeong's autograph with wenxiang before he flew. I took part in the Mitsubishi car rally with fellow colleagues, Anergizers, and being afraid of heights, my most unforgettable experience was the G-max challenge. I also screwed the midterms this month, which really affected the overall grade by a great deal. THe month ended with meet-ups with the friends who were to fly to London in October.
October and November
Schoolwork tied me down these 2 months, and preparation for exams meant that nothing special happened. Perhaps the only worth-mentioning ones are the Windsurfing course and slots that I went for and enjoyed in. And I should be continuing with recreational Windsurfing when there's time to spare. There was a 神木与瞳campus concert that I attended in November, about 3 weeks before exams. And exams killed me in November.
December
Did JLPT3 exam and so gave up on Stanchart in 2008. The year-end company BBQ was good and the night lasertag game was fun, and it got me hooked on TapDefence. Calefared in school for an upcoming drama in Feb2009. Celebrated Isaiah's First Bday. And attended the last few 21st birthdays. Attended a christmas party at Mag's house, with mostly taiwan trippers. After receiving my results, I embarked on the year-end company retreat Taiwan trip, with fellow colleagues. First time on the company retreat trip; First time going Taiwan; First time countdown-ing overseas.
人生是黑白的.
