Happy 2551st Vesak Day!

This is the most meaningful vesak day i've ever had.
.
Wenjian and i reached Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (光明山普觉禅寺) in the morning and started our volunteer duties.. We signed up under the 'Environmental Fair' section and basically we were to educate the public and increase awareness in recycling.
.
But perhaps due to the 'ulu-ness' of the exhibiton area since it was a little out of way (the temple site is really enormous), there wasn't many people visiting the fair.
.
So we impromptu-ly set up a make-shift booth outside the Dining Hall, where there were at least a thousand people at any time during the lunch hours. And there, we showed the public things that were recyclable and things that weren't. Admittedly, educating people of recycling is really really an uphill task. So, if we had been able to convince a handful of people on recycling and increased general awareness, i'll be more than glad..

But one thing that we were quite helpless about, was the thousands of paper and plastic cups thrown away outside the Dining Hall. Because of the sheer large numbers, it sort of pained by heart to see them all gone to waste. Those cups could have been briefly cleaned and sent to recycling plants. I really hope that something could be done for all subsequent mega events like today's.

And surprise! Ex-classmates Elvina (07/04) and Pamela (2I) were also fellow volunteers at the environmental fair! Yup, it was heartening to know of active people around me, hoping to do something special on this important day.

Then in the evening, we went up for the concert, 《佛·笑》音乐会, held in conjunction with the release of the 《佛·笑》album. Top local male singers, A-Do and Junyang, both sang a song each in this Buddhist album. This concert showcases some of the songs inside this album, which was produced by 'Ocean Butterflies Music', with a trendy pop-feel. Especially the A-Do song, which can really be taken to be a pop chinese song. Anyway, the song by A-Do is 活过, the one by Junyang is 露水.

And at the grand finale, we were on the stage! Ok, the volunteers were invited to be 'Kong Meng San FANCLUB', and so we were rallying behind 广声法师's performance! He sang 6 songs inside the album, of which he performed 2 on stage..
(and i could almost appear in the news if the cameraman stopped at the position for 2 more seconds..)

yea, so kinda fun. i'll definitely wanna be part of such meaningful events again.
