i am greatly affected by a movie that i watched 2 days ago.. so let me juz blog out the whole story here for remembrance sake..
THE MYTH (Shen Hua)Jack (jackie chan) had been dreaming of his past life time and again.. he was a General Meng Yi, a Qin General.. It was a chaotic time, and there were wars... not only between countries, but also between rival generals.. There was one day, an enemy country decided to send one of their best princesses to be Qin shi huang's concubine, something likened to a peace accord.. that princess is none other than yushu (kim hee seon).. BUT, yushu's ex fiance came around and decided to take her away.. so a round of fighting took place, between him and general meng yi, who had to protect yushu's life, for she is going to be the emperor's concubine.. den for some reasons, during one of the fights, both mengyi and yushu fell off the cliff into the sea........
back to the present, william, who is a physicist and also jack's fren, had been studying about the possibility of levitation, for he tinks that if he succeeds, he can be the greatest scientist in the world.. so he went to look for jack, to head to the ancient city of Dasar, where there's a sacred temple where it was said that a monk could levitate.. At the sacred temple, the 2 dressed like the fellow followers and sneaked into a secret chamber.. Inside, they were shocked to see a coffin and a sword hanging in mid air! there was a weird stone somewhere near, and the curious william tried to remove it.. he did it, but it caused the coffin and the sword crashing down to the ground..the coffin opened and jack saw a portrait.. it carried the painting of yushu, the gal in his dreams!! at the same time, outside the chamber, the monk, who was levitating in the air, also came tumbling down.. it was then that they found out, that the ppl were able to use an asteroid to sustain objects in air..
soon, 2 highly skilled dasar fighters entered the chamber to kill the 2 intruders.. the skilled jack managed to handle them well.. so the 2 ran out and escaped.. but the thousands of followers were also in hot pursuit, chasing them to a dead end.. william was able to escape through a helicopter that was earlier prepared.. jack was left there to fight, cos the driver of the helicopter didnt want to wait, for safety reasons.. at his wits' end, jack jumped off the cliff..
back to the past, after mengyi and yushu fell off the cliff, they managed to survive and hid inside a cliff.. once, a few soldiers came and attempted to take yushu away, but mengyi was able to fight them off, but he suffered a severe slash at the waist and went unconscious.. yushu used her hair to help to stitch his wound.. quite amazing though.. then another time, it was snowing outside the cave. mengyi had to stand guard outside the cave to protect the princess.. yushu decided to get him back into the cave, but to her horror, he was already unconscious, as the weather was too drastic.. she hydrated him by melting ice in her mouth and channelled the water into his mouth (like kissing..).. she gave him warmth by making use of her clothing to cover him up... days later, the weather turned fine and they continued on their journey back to xi'an.. yushu, who had grown to like mengyi, danced for him.. but he had been very reluctant to watch, as he believed that he couldnt be so close to an emperor's concubine... when they finally reached the border of xi'an, yushu was very unwilling to enter, as she didnt want to marry qin shi huang.. she requested mengyi to bring her away, to anywhere.. but mengyi rejected, asking her to promise that she had to live on, no matter what, for him and for her own people.. she agreed, to live on, for his sake...
back to the present, after jack fell off the cliff, he was badly injured, but he was saved by an indian woman, who was playing with an elephant. she brought him to see her uncle, a renowned marital arts teacher.. the teacher found out jack's motive of visit and why the sacred temple was wrecked by him and william.. their conversation was rather humourous.. very soon later, the police tracked jack down.. the indian woman helped him escape.. there was a scene where jack disguised himself someone blowing a duno-wad instrument, but in the end, the tune attracted a cobra, and so the police got him again.. but the indian woman and jack were good fighters and the action scenes were really interesting.. one of the scenes include them fighting on a conveyor belt of glue.. those action scenes really got everyone laughing and applauding jack's brilliance and talent at the same time.. really wonderful and joyful watching those scenes.. and so, jack and the woman got away from the police.. the indian woman arranged for a boat to send jack back to hongkong where he would return the portrait and the sword to the museum.. the portrait was then returned to dasar..
back to the past, the emperor was dying.. but he had an order.. that all concubines had to be entombed with him when he died.. mengyi didnt want yushu to die with qin shi huang.. so he was extra determined to get the 'longevity pill', from some rebels.. and so he led a big troop to fight the rebels, who were in turn led by other generals.. the fight between all the generals was a massive one.. alot of casualties here n dere.. eventually, mengyi's side got the pill, and they were rushing back. however, the rebel general killed one of the generals on mengyi's side, hence crippling them.. mengyi decided to stay on to find the rebels and gave general nangong the responsibility to transport the pill to the emperor.. "you muz bring it to the emperor. only that can the princess be saved...." after a long fight with the soldiers, mengyi was eventually axed by another general, beheading him..............
back at the present, william went to look up his ex boss, someone who was in favour of looting from ancient tombs.. i cant remember his name.. call him Mr X la.. den Mr X wanted to make use of jack to bring him to another ancient tomb.. he knew about jack's dreams about the qin general.. he had a hunch that jack would eventually bring him to somewhere.. hence, he got william to lure him to follow his dreams, to the waterfall where jack had also been dreaming about.. meanwhile, jack was really determined to enter the waterfall, as in, enter the cave that lies behind in the waterfall.. that was in his dreams.. hence, he made use of some equipment to abseil and enter the waterfall and went right inside into the cave....
once right inside, Mr X bombed open it, and gained access to it.. but the impact somehow injured jack and brought him unconscious.. at this moment... yushu appeared.... its juz like a fairy appearing to save him.. she recognised jack and took him for mengyi.. rejoiced, she told she had kept her promise to live on... for him... and she really waited for so long, since the qin dynasty.. general nangong was inside too.. and after explaining a little, they both took jack for mengyi.. the curious jack then asked them y were they there.. well, actually that time when nangong transported the pills to the emperor, the physicians asked him to take one down, for fear it was poison.. they also gave one to yushu.. and so both of them were able to attain longevity.. and the special ting about this qin shi huang tombstone, was that everyting was in midair!! so actually back at the olden times, qinshihuang had already gotten the secret of levitation..by using the asteroids to create a mid-air hanging palace, housed in this cave no one knows..
Mr X and william came in.. jack realised he had been made use of.. it evolved into a fight.. nangong was badly injured by the Mr X..(which i tink abit weird.. he was a general leh). mr X wanted to get the longevity pills.. and so he decided to climb up the palace to find.. but in the meantime, william, being curious again, decided to play with some stones or wadever ting again.. but he din read a note there that said someting like "if this is removed, annihilation will follow".. wadever tht follows could be expected la.. the ancient tombstone.. the entire cave.. was coming down gradually..
jack told yushu..."let me take u out of here".. but at the entrance of the cave, yushu asked him, "jack... u really aren't mengyi...?? then im not leaving.. i shall wait for mengyi.. he told me to wait for him, i shall keep my promise.. sorry.. he wun die... he will come back......" with that, she was lost in the cave.. jack den quickly made for the exit, juz timely before the cave closed..
back at hongkong, life had returned for jack.. but the difference was, he had lost his friend, william and perhaps his recurring dream... but wad remains, is a beautiful memory and an untold heartening love story..
